Agangatolú is the first offering off Àbáse’s debut album Laroyê, set to be released in November, 2021. The song was created during a five month journey in Brazil in collaboration with Jadson Xabla and Gabriel Santana from Salvador’s Jêje family, IFÁ Afrobeat drummer Jorge Dubman aka Dr Drumah, jazz vibraphonist Antonio Loureiro and Hungarian jazz flutist Fanni Zahár. The composition is based on a traditional candomblé song dedicated to Oshosi, orisha (diety) of the forests, hunt, animals and wealth.

Recently my father passed away... unexpected, leaving my mum and myself to pick up the pieces of what was a broken family making amends - ironic how things break so easily.

To build a home has always been one of those songs I put on whenever feeling low or just in need of emotional comfort. 

Thinking of my Dad I decided to curve the trajectory by creating this, sampling the original score as well as a capella I found on yt into what I feel is a much happier remake of the original. 

Bottom line for me is no matter the loss you are in control of what you do next.
