Chronicles Curates : ZenLily

Many underground artists want to wreak havoc, yet rarely do their productions and mixes reek of carefully crafted excellence. Such can be said of our next guest. With a thorough appreciation of multiple genres, his core essence does justice to his fusion psychedelic sound of industrial techno - becoming one of Slovenia’s major musical exports. He can proudly boast of playing internationally in over 20 countries and of the support he’s garnered over the years from some of the champions in the scene.

He also runs his own label and events brand called ‘Midnight Resurrection’, a testament to his 30 plus Vinyl and 100 plus Digital Releases. He mainly uses the label to self-release his chaotic originals and the events side of the brand serves as a respectable home for underground sounds by artists who share his musical vision. 

We personally thank him for taking over the Monthly Residency in September, and this mix that is now uploaded under the Curates banner.

The Underground Music covens Down under have been known to evoke darker realms of sonic fusions. Much to many a delight. And, our next guests are the perfect example of razing such electronica.

The reverence of Babylon echoes throughout history – the wealth; the architecture; the illusion of paradise itself, more tangibly portrayed in it’s gardens; the empowerment of mankind and therein, it’s impactful subliminal influence. The very word itself has pervades mystery .. in it’s Empirical might or it’s Biblical plight. An all-powerful school of thought, interpreted differently based on our individual understanding of all the word entails, but coming back to that one element of 'Power'.

For our next Guests, the name reflects their Rural Welsh origins and how their sound echoes on their inspiration from nature. They’ve cultivated quite a local following with their Hill top parties, paying homage to their topographical homeland and showcasing music that only enhances one’s connection with the great outdoors. 

They celebrated notable success earlier this year, with their ‘Unsung Heroes’ project, acknowledging and offering support to not only the NHS Heroes, but all key workers in these trying times. Needless to say, they are a duo to look out for in the very near future.

Our next guest takes you deep into the heart of the jungle - more specifically hailing from the concrete jungle of LA. 

With an early love for a fusion sounds stemming from his love of Punk and Metal, it wasn't soon till the underground trance veteran Christopher Lawrence stumbled upon his work and gave him the winning place in a remix competition. Fast forward a few years and he has crafted a psychedelic techno niche that radiates a confidence in discovering one's true sound at such an early age.

For our first curator of the year, we invite a Professional DJ who’s graced the Russian underground scene for more than two decades; a Producer who can proudly boast more than a thousand releases over 80 record labels worldwide; and most importantly, an ableton live certified trainer – who teaches at the prestigious Resonance Music Academy in St. Petersburg. 

His tutelage spans a vast variety of subject matter, from basic production to live mixing, all the way to label releases. The pandemic has not slowed him down at all, but allowed him to make affordably attractive tutor packages available on a global level via Patreon. 

His live antics involve a complex setup of controllers and synth – emphasising on the art of performing. And it is for that reason, that he is amongst the most sought out artists in the progressive world in Russia and beyond!

Our next guest is one that has exploded in 2020. With an Indian background and an understanding of the cultural/regional instruments, he has persevered to magically incorporate that into his productions. Gaining releases on respected labels around the world and firmly stamping his footprint as a DJ, he has already become one to watch out for and even ended the year with a high as a guest on the celebrated JOOF Radio.

We’ve been in regular touch with him since first discovering him - being regularly sent in promos and nurturing a very healthy business relationship. We are greatly impressed by the continuous evolution of his artistic prowess as that which is curated in this mix. Half of it catering to the sunset trend in his local town of Bangalore and the second half catering to the peak time darkness for clubs around the world.
