In the Twilight’s Embrace marks our second single featuring lyrics, revealing a different facet of Chronochromie — one rooted more deeply in our progressive rock influences.

This track also features guest vocals by our mixing engineer Patrick Goyette (Growler’s Choir, Hymnosis), bringing his powerful voice to complement the layered textures of the song.

While the structure leans toward a more traditional form — with defined verses and choruses — we’ve preserved the experimental spirit at the core of our music. Expect intricate chord progressions, shifting time signatures, and a detailed exploration of sonic space through advanced mixing techniques.

Chronochromie is an instrumental progressive rock and extreme metal band formed in 2022. Led by guitarist and composer Alexandre David and drummer and visual artist Samuel David, this Montreal-based ensemble blends genres with influences ranging from technical death metal to classic progressive rock and jazz fusion. Their debut EP EPOCH, released in 2023, was described as “...music as heavy as it is cerebral, uncompromising in its complexity.” (PAN M 360).

Chronochromie's first single featuring lyrics — and the debut of guitarist Alexandre David as lead vocalist.

This track expands on our signature progressive metal language: intricate riffs, shifting time signatures, and layered textures. But it also marks a new direction — one where vocals carve space through the chaos, leading to moments that are both cinematic and epic.

Our approach to lyrics was to treat them like an extension of the music: dark, layered, and emotionally intense. Rather than telling a linear story, the words build a series of stark, symbolic images that mirror the atmosphere of the track. It explores the themes of isolation, inner collapse, and existential dread
