Jess Young's 'Butterflies', originally released in 2023, is a heartfelt message to a first love, expressed through the sonics of Neo-Soul / R&B and elements of Jazz and Folk.

Chug has reinterpreted the original with two distinct, vibrant flavours that showcase the depth and diversity of both artists' sounds. The first, a Liquid Drum & Bass roller featuring a Soulful Jazzy Rhodes melody layered over classic breaks and 808 bass that create a soundscape that is lush and atmospheric, yet also heavy on the dancefloor. The second remix nods back to Chug’s roots with a Marimba driven bass that weaves through chopped up vocals and a two-step UK Garage shuffle that will keep your feet skanking!

Back in my uni days I used to roll with Macpherson and his Sub-Red promotion. We hosted room 2  at Traffic at Rhythm Factory a few times.....here's my Old School Jungle/Drum & Bass set from May 2005.  A few suspect mixes in there but the vibe was going off!

Back in 2001/2002 my first student flatshare was with my sparring partner, MC Smiley...most evenings would have tunes rolling and us practising in my bedroom. This one sticks in my memory where I was just having a mix, and Smiley was getting ready to go out. He heard me mixing, popped in and decided to have a 30 minute spray.  We ended up going in EZ style trying to bash out as many tunes as possible. Pure vibes. E15

Back in 1999, Flight 100 FM began broadcasting in Norwich and surrounding areas. As a young up and coming DJ, I was obsessed with pirate radio, religiously tuning in every weekend to hear the latest tracks. UK Garage was blowing up at this time and I was spending all my pocket money all the new promos and releases. This mix was made around 2000, and reflects a lot of what was being played on Flight then....so big up The Colonel, Lex and G, Paul Christian, Alex Marvelli, Gin Gin, Scratch, Vinyl Vera, Snoopster.

A mix dedicated to one of my all time favourite  UK Garage producer(s). X-Men, who were originally Jason Chue & Johnny J. Jason Chue then went under the name of Wookie, and also as Exemen with his brother
Simon Chue.  Their signature sounds were the skippy jungle influenced drumwork, instantly recognisable percussion and twisted morphing basslines. Some of these songs have been absolutely battered over the years as you can probably hear from all the pops and clicks. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did putting it together. @wooxstar
