Pure Warmth is a brand new project from the extremely talented and versatile house producer & DJ Tommy Tickle teaming up with fellow WME agent Matt Smith.

Tommy Tickle has made a name for himself with past releases featured on the likes of BBC Introducing Dance, Capital Dance and Kiss. and whose music has been included on the likes of Spotify's Deep House Relax, UK House Music and New Dance Revolution playlists.

London based production duo Pure Warmth ready the 26th release for Important UK imprint Ad Hoc records, following on from the label's extensive and mind-altering catalog. Ad Hoc was set up in 2017 as a way to celebrate and support music bubbling from the Manchester scene, while combining their world music influences and love for warm rhythms and irresistible grooves. The label, which doubles up as a party, has invited a wide range of guests, always with the aim to support the artists they love through their launch parties and the city’s intimate surroundings.

All of Ad Hoc’s previous releases have an abundance of soul and it’s easy to see why they have enlisted the work of duo Pure Warmth. The record kicks off with title track ‘Kutsu’ - a deep, contemplative journey across six minutes of nocturnal moods and organic rhythms, glued beautifully together by analogue warmth. In an age of three minute tracks, the duo use their knowledge of set building in ‘Something lyrical’, slowly gathering momentum through jazz infused melodies and flora swept atmospherics; the track's vocal sample adding to the classic house aesthetic. ‘Money’ turns things up a notch with a club-friendly approach; its hazy pads are threaded through funk-induced basslines and chords, before the record comes to a close with the irresistible and acid fueled hip-house cut ‘The Shepard’.

PREMIERE: Pure Warmth - Something Lyrical

After a brief hiatus Church are back with a debut offering of original material from Apes. The A Side 'Two Thousand Six' is a straight up techno work out, having been tried and tested this track is aimed directly at the dance floor. Chaos in the CBD are on board for the remix taking us on a journey of warm, deep, subtle analogue House fresh off the back of their stand out track '78 to Stanley Bay'.

The B Side 'Cold Love' goes some way to show Apes' versatility as a producer. It's a nostalgic piece of work, with a pulsating bass-line driving through the track along with intricate percussion and a choice vocal sample to round things off. Cold Love is equally suited for the club or for home listening. Apes' right hand man Seb Wildblood takes the track in a slightly different direction, using elements of the percussion and transforming the vocal sample for a delightful melodic contribution to the EP.

As day becomes night the sky begins to change, the stars illuminate, white balls of burning flame. The sunlight dies, clouds blacken the expanse which sits above the world, nothing shines but the twinkling light of those little pearls. The equinox is near, the celestial calendar aligns and day and night correspond in equal time. The reach is far and wide, earth floats, a hazy planet at the mercy of the tide: the sun casts it's final beam, slips beneath the line and dies.

DJ Soch brings a touch of la dolce vita to Distant Hawaii. This glittering release cherry picks the best of house, jersey house and italo, stitching them together with adoration into irresistible grooves. Resident DJ of seminal Italian club, Serendipity, and founder of Black Angus Records, Soch’s effortlessly classy house has long set him apart as a mainstay in Native Italy. 

Opener ‘The Power of Poetry’ paves the way for the EP. A fine example of the rich sounds synonymous with DJ Soch, slinky keys marry velvety synths on this nonchalant, italo-influenced number. ‘Underground Night’ maintains the dreamhouse vibe; modest keys and nod to club Tropicana. ‘Peter Pan’ picks up the pace on the B-side but this laid-back, dreamy slice of house is reminiscent of sun soaked adventures. Arriving at the beach bar, dive into warm blissful waves of ‘Round the World’. Shimmery and twinkling until the bittersweet end, ‘Magic Flute’ spins a classic four to the floor formula into candy-floss, chopped up vox glistening over the infectious beat. The perfect sundowner.

South Shields lad Dom cut his teeth in the music game as ‘Apes’ over a decade ago in London, co-founding Church with his then neighbour, Seb Wildblood.  

After a lengthy hiatus since 2016’s Mosaic EP dropped on Church, Dom bounced back with an eclectic 6-tracker entitled ‘Inside of Rhythms’ on the prolific Barcelona-based, Diffuse Reality in December 2022.

An avid digger and host of the monthly show All Hopes Sank on Slack’s Radio, his sets spin through a mix of: melancholic electro, atmospheric breaks, twisty braindance, nostalgic trance, and thumping techno.
