Eloi, a French producer hailing from Paris is the one behind Limited White Label's ninths black label release and takes you right to your late summer teen-romance you've never had. The release fuses jazzy chords, deep synthy bass lines and catchy vocals to create the French class sound so many of us are familiar with.

Multi-dimensional future-jazz outfit JK GROUP release a new EP, Rising on La Sape Records. The brainchild of award-winning saxophonist, Joshua Kelly (30/70 collective, PBS Young Elder of Jazz 2019), the band returns to the label with a follow up EP to the mind-bending 2021 release, What’s Real? 

Where What’s Real? served as a platform for wild experimentation, Rising returns to a more considered and familiar format for the band, offering up 4 cohesive tracks that are deep in conception and expression, at once original and fresh. Conceived after recording an as yet unreleased body of work written whilst undergoing chemotherapy, Rising celebrates bandleader Josh’s survival and eventual recovery from the intense treatment he received for lymphoma in 2020. 

The band stays true to their honed format of jazz traditions melding with influences from electronica and beyond. Like the first release, The Young Ones, Rising sits comfortably in the crossover of raw, live jazz and electronic dance music,  whilst also throwing an unexpected curveball to the listener expanding the palate of the bands sound to a pigment never before heard in their music. The EP takes you on an emotional journey throughout the four tracks, best listened to start-to-finish.

Shuffling bumpers, SE LDN jazz-flecked deepness, tough drum workouts and broken beat heaters, all mixed down by Chaos In The CBD main man Beans, this really does have a cut for every occasion and shows an accomplished head rests on Esselle’s shoulders. Underground System returns to @razor-n-tape with the ‘Looking In EP’ -  a 5-track offering of fresh originals and remixes. Ranging from low-slung Balearic grooves, to driving left-field funk and urgent up-tempo backbeats, the record is a fine-tuning of the US sound, complete with their signature flute and synth soundscapes, driving percussion, and catchy offbeat vocal hooks. On the B-side, RNT mainstays Nenor and Clive From Accounts take two of the tunes into clubbier territory, with a pair of remixes that are primed for the dance floor.

FHUO's sophomore EP moves from a quartet format to a split EP between the bossman and the Paris-based Parviz, who makes his vinyl debut on the release. The record starts off with Folamour's "Very First Touch". A live clap and crowd sample opens the doors for a hazy build of  pads and jazz licks to come through. Parviz then makes his appearance via "100 Crown Bills" a more up-tempo house track that places groovy piano and guitar riffs and a mean flute over a bouncy bass and drum kit. On the B-Side, Parviz' "L'Estaque" lays some buttery jazz-funk loops down over another dancefloor-oriented beat. Two gems that have come to maturity and have been plucked for the Fahrenheit/Celsius EP on Cosmic Pint Glass records.Daniel has crafted something special in these two cuts. Beautiful, bouncy and positive tracks that work as well on the dance floor as in the soundtrack to a road trip. After hearing them, CPG called in their top men Lauer and Jack Pattern for remix duties.
