It's always a pleasure helping a new label launch into the world of shifting music to the masses, as we are today with the first release on Cavalier, a label dedicated to putting "house music and its near relatives" out into the ether.

Their maiden voyage comes in the shape of the Thoughts in Sound EP from Frankfurt's Koloman Trax. Our pick, "Trig Mix", sounds like it's emerging from a remote swamp in the Black Forest, in turn inducing a wild electrical storm galvanised by distorted drum machines and untameable mutant synths.

Lobster Theremin's sublabel Distant Hawaii, which so far seems more house and balearic orientated than its cousin, was featured in our Top 100 2015 with the summery track "Bill Loves You" by Hidden Spheres. The label's second release is the "Secret Island" EP by newcomer and London-based producer Tony Donson aka DJ Sonikku, and it doesn't disappoint! The EP's opener"Land Of Sky" premiered here sets the tone with a tough beat backed by a hopping FM bass, house chords and an overall early 90s feel. This is sure to send you straight to that secret island of yours!

Following on from the impressive Demuja rub of Text Apology, next up to the controls is Scottish Producer / DJ, Ansata who creates music that lives comfortably anywhere between leftfield breaks and full throttle disco, 90s UK hardcore to groove heavy afro funk. Clocking in over 7 epic minutes "Imaginary" floats inside a lake of cloudy ambient soundscapes until evolving into a bumpin dancefloor bass riddim - punctuated by distorted rave bells and melting space disco drones. 
Utterly chaotic and totally cosmic!

A zonked-out, spectacularly fun, and dynamic EP from the Australian producer whose previous efforts have appeared on Lobster Theremin's Distant Hawaii and Seb Wildblood's All My Thoughts. Lively, punchy drums throughout, splashes of tropicalia here and there, smatterings of dubby strangeness sprinkled across, and wash upon wash of pads everywhere. A jolly good time to be played in big and small rooms alike.
