Doug Stevenson & The Spades is a Baltimore/Washington combo that plays -- to borrow from The Blasters -- American music. Country & western is the main ingredient, with blues, jazz, swing, bluegrass, rockabilly, and rock 'n' roll flavoring the gumbo.

Cigarbox Planetarium, writers of challenging chord changes, mysterious melodies, harmful harmonies and contorted counterpoints, are also the players of twangy echo guitars, moody organs and pianos, and an old-school '70s drum machine named Carl Palmer. These seemingly retro elements combine into a future-looking original instrumental music, scoring the soundtracks to another time.
