Newcomer Aniche releases a strikingly original EP on Reptile Dysfunction : intricate, percussion-heavy dance music that sounds quite unlike anything else you’re likely to come across this year.
Aniche's synaesthesia has allowed him since childhood to see sound as shapes, colours, and textures. This deeply intimate and emotional connection with music has helped over 20 years of writing and producing music, and 15 years of DJing. His sound is an articulation of Eastern heritage and British culture, representing as much his 90s rave/electronica influences as classical Hindi and psychedelic disco.

Aniche is a graduate of my DJ and producer academy and a great example of an artist whose dedication to his art and pure persistence as well as patience will give him a great career. The artwork is made up of colours that come directly from the music, with its vortex pulling you into his world. Drums are hugely important to me, and every track on this EP is an evolution of experiments with percussion. The Himalayan Soul subtitle references a sub-style's pioneering, and Enchanted Gold is actually #2 in that series (#1 is on the Miami sampler!) so expect a lot more where that came from! But it’s Little Green Leaves that seems to be the runaway hit with most people, and that climactic final drop shakes me up every time.” Aniche

Around six years ago, a bunch of djs, musicians and music lovers started gathering for weekly five-a-side football matches on a small, run-down pitch in Kreuzberg 61. Because much like music, football brings people together, wherever they are from. This release collects tracks by players from seven different nationalities, all based in Berlin, united by both their love of the beautiful game as well as their passion for electronic club music. 

Eleven tracks are on offer (what did you expect?), each one dedicated to the composer's football hero. As such, the tracklist forms an all-star fantasy "Mannschaft". Compiled by player-coach Tristan Jong (aka Gratts) and made possible thanks to Markus Lindner (aka Delfonic), the package lives between corner flags techno, deep house, disco and broken beats. It features music by established underground artists like Venezualan digger Trujillo, We Play House Recordings stalwart Harry Baldi or Juliano as well as debuts from the likes of Nemorna, James Martin and plenty more indeed.

Five of the tracks are pressed loud onto vinyl as a club sampler - including full artwork comprising some of the team pictures taken throughout the years - with a free download link to the complete 11 track compilation. "Una Vida De Barrio", then? That's what the graffiti on the wall of the football cage says. Sometimes you don’t need to look for a title, it finds you.
Auxerre born Juliano picks the great Corentin Martins, nicknamed “Coco Martins”. Every weekend, his incredible goals were the highlight of little Juliano’s youth.
