unfrotunately this does seem the way everything is going now. I suppose to some extent it's always been like that if a company themselves created a product.  But you can look at damn near anything and there's companies paying tons of money to get the exclusive rights to some product, which then means they can charge whatever they want.  It really feels like there's going to be some sort of consumerism bubble in a few short years, where the big companies finally bleed the average worker dry of all their funds and then society will just collapse (the most extreme result...)

This is how fake news is spread, people see a legitimate article behind a pay wall and decide to go somewhere else for their information that's free, and who know's what their sources are.  I totally agree that Journalism relies of some form of payment, though they do tend to pay pretty high salaries, and also have the income from advertisers.  Surely they could have some 'important' articles for free, then just put all the gossip and entertainment stuff behind pay walls

Here's a small twist on the 're-cast a movie' segment you've done in the past.  Say you've just come across someone who's awoke from a long term coma (at least 20 years) and rather then telling them directly which movies to catch up on.  Would you be able to tell them who from the existing crop of stars is comparative to those they would have known back in the day?  For example, Dwayne Johnson is the current day Arnold Schwarzenegger

Scorsese’s Cape Fear is great (especially De Niro), but the subtlety of the original and the building creepiness from Mitchum is perfect. Plus, Gregory Peck elevates every movie he’s in

Have not seen the remake, but the original The Vanishing is fantastic. Great psychological mystery/character study that turns hard into horror at the very end. 

I don’t actually care for the original True Grit all that much. My favorite John Wayne performances/films are The Searchers and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. He is the emotional heart of both, and demonstrates that he has legitimate talent

The kinda-trance-whatever-ritual-thingy scene at the end of the Suspiria remake, coupled with this beautifully peaceful and warm Thom Yorke song and hard red color filter is still printed in my brain even though I only saw it in theatre upon release. That scene is completely unique and what cements the remake as the better film for me.

live wire is the best Mountain Dew. I remember seeing the 12 on a road trip one summer when I was pretty broke. I paid $6 for it. I had to have it. So I get that.
