Sonic 2 Time Quest OST - End of Demo

Made a Crash cover of this back in like April or w/e when I made those SRB2 covers. Never actually posted it because I didn't like how it was shaping up well enough. But then yesterday I remembered it existed and went to change it into a Wario cover.

I saw a title I recognized on VGMusic the other day and gave this sequence a shot. People bothering to include pitch-bending always piques my interest. That sort of thing earns instant marks from me in a "one of the judges always responds well to that" sort of way.
I put it into SynthFont with Clubhouse Games instruments and liked what I heard, so I decided I'd try a more involved arrangement in FL. I ended up making a 2nd arrangement with the idea of bringing to mind another bully-type character: the female Barney, gen Z Jimmy Hopkins. That's what this was meant to be. IDK how close it comes to that but I like how it sounds (even if the melody is syncopated to the point of being downright erroneous). MMPR guitar aside I *also* included Toby's beloved Duty Cycle patch.

update here. I wanted to go public a full month ago but then wanted to make the arpeggios accurate, but then I wanted to implement the CBH surf guitar, to put the final nail in the "Susie vibe failed" coffin. Then I figured I might as well make the arpeggios accurate, but the mix didn't like that. I liked the mix, so I decided to side with that. Which was all well and good, but then I forgot to make this public for another IDK days.

Wow, it's been a long time since I did one of these, huh?

So discussion a few days ago went to old tracks from the fangame idea of yesteryear Sonic 2 Gold Edition, and @dmashura's wonderful Radix Run Zone music specifically. Well, with the idea firmly planted back in my head, and an itch to give it a go, we end up with what you're listening to right now.

A fun thing with this track, it's one of the first I ever did Mega Drive music importing for, back when disassemblies weren't a thing and we had to use the lovely Sonic QX to import music (badly) into Sonic 2 Beta only. From there I redid it a number of times as my music modification skills of the original games got more proficient and as we learned more about how its sound engines worked. However, I only ever did one rendition of it like this in FruityLoops (wow that ages it), and thought I'd give another a go.
