'Music They Love'... we ask DJ's and producers to delve into their collection and put together a selection of records that have meant a lot to them in the past, as well as the present. All things inspirational and influential - the records which have shaped their sound as a producer or selection as a DJ.

This week we are joined by the super talented party starter, DJ and producer @d-tiffany 💕 Her records are always a firm favourite of customers at the shop, as well as with us (we've still got her collab release with @regfant on repeat)!

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community: You only get out what you put in. Find space to contribute to your scene before you expect anything from it. Whether it's running a club night, starting a label, collaborating, sharing knowledge or promoting other artists, giving your energy to the scene is vital. I truly believe that so many of the opportunities I have received have come from the energy I have contributed - I see it as a really beautiful exchange.

Oslo trance outfit Accelerationism is the brainchild of Marius Bø & Teo Bachs, whose trippy, high-energy sounds were born back in 2017 as a series of open-air woodland raves. The Norwegian duo are co-founders of the Ute Collective, an umbrella sobriquet spearheading their current charge alongside other artists with forest gathering division Uteklubb and imprint Ute.Rec (and sublabels Sinensis and Translusid for a deeper dive into ambient-, hardtrance as well as Goa). The pair are even known to distribute their music as mix CDs from time to time, an appropriately authentic and tangible format for a 90s sound having such a profound resurgence in a world dominated by digital media. There’s clearly a lot on their plate, and that’s maybe not so surprising: the same passion the duo pours into their many projects is manifested by a diligent and lightning-fast brand of trance - this rabble-rousing duo has energy in abundance. Bassiani Podcast 175 channels Marius and Teo’s firebrand spirit and clandestine forest gatherings with emotive nostalgia as well as fresh and radical optimism. This mix consists of unreleased nordic trance for a dazzling and uncertain future.

AN SERIES 010: Offtrack

Now in its 200th instalment, this Podcast has given voice to a diverse offering of global talents across the musical spectrum, from the democratic rhythms of zeitgeist appropriate techno and house through to more avant-garde synthwork.

This next guest has cast a large shadow over the technosphere, so large in fact, that no introduction could fully encompass the breadth of his achievements. But in brief: Ben Klock is a titan whose formative years were spent playing marathon mixes to the crowds at Berlin’s (then recently opened) Berghain. Off the back of his endurance sets and the club’s success he became a household name whose influence grew to be felt across the world, with a body of work that includes appearances at an exhaustive list of clubs and festivals, a number of hot releases on Ostgut Ton and an equally respected self-run label (Klockworks) to boot. On this second imprint, his own productions have repeatedly seen the light of day, alongside those from the likes of DVS1, Sterac, Stef Mendesidis and younger talents like Temudo and Vil & Cravo. The sound, ubiquitous as it is, will be familiar to anyone involved in the world of electronic music and there’s good reason for that: Klock’s deep and percussive work and ability to pull from a wide range of influences have earmarked him as a unique agent for the techno cause. Atmospheric and delivered with hammering force, Klock’s refined palette for rhythms is as relevant now as ever. Bassiani Podcast 221's next in line and this one comes from Georgian firebrand Charch. Tbilisi’s his hometown, and the place whose steep ascent as mecca for electronic culture in the early 2010s provided the right conditions for his musical passions to flourish. These days, he’s based in Tallinn, and he’s brought his bottomless hunger for records to the local scene there, with the founding of his own record store Biit Me Riga in neighbouring Latvia a much beloved addition to the neighbourhood. It’s proven a trusty vessel by which he’s able to discover new sounds, connect to fellow vinyl heads and build a community around him, the kind of grassroots mission on which the very best of electronic music culture is founded. From a quirky fusion of 90s progressive house, techno, trance, breakbeat, bleep and house comes his hallmark sound, one that’s also found a home (or residency to be more precise) at Tallinn night club HALL. Building selections from an eclectic range of finds, and with a good vibe approach that puts fun and danceable rhythms to the fore is Charch’s raison d’être. This latest one pushes that vision further, upbeat and brimming with his contagious and singular energy, radically optimistic beats from the Baltic corner of the map he calls home.

Looking to showcase their vision of techno in a country where nightlife has been starved of liberties and continues to battle government oppression—much like Sydney during its lockout laws—the Emerald Isle is brimming with talent and passion for techno. This artist contributes to their local scene through their own label, Circuit Structure Records, founded in 2022, which features classy self-released EPs alongside work from both local and international talent.

Saoirse is a DJ, producer and radio host. She first cut her teeth on the Irish radio channel RTE, and soon after relocating to London she’d started playing regularly on Rinse FM. Living in the capital she turned heads playing at parties like Toi Toi – she also became more than familiar with all of us as a regular at our Ricardo Villalobos marathon sessions. 

A record collector from a young age, Saoirse typically blends house, techno, dub and garage with a charming subtlety. We experienced this first hand when she came to open up Room One last month. Playing ahead of Loco Dice and Craig Richards, Saoirse’s deep and far-reaching selections went down as one of the night’s highlights – so much so that we unlocked the recording from the vaults for everyone to hear. 

Taking in 90s house through to rolling Romanian minimal, it’s a heady trip that sounds just as engrossing through a pair of earphones as it did on our Martin Audio rig.
