Welcome to another experimental episode of our CodeCast XY sessions.

Yóhan is an ambient/deep techno artist in Seoul and a director of the techno label, Artscope.
He pursuits the making of rough and industrial, non-musical noisy sounds into silky and sophisticated moods. He believes that there are some musical energy in all the sounds around us. He also thinks that we all feel some kinds of beauty, feelings and some memories in it and always tries to express emotions of the modern times - “the period of mechanics”.
He creates deep dark but warm texture of space made of ambient, industrial sounds to express his deepest pain and feeling. And always tries to investigate a new sound and a new combination of sounds and released his tracks in such as Artscope, Arcing seas and Lett records.

Few interesting words he told us about this particular session:
"Well, making this set was like the process of watching my inside. I wanted to observe the weakness and the strength, the peacefulnes and the violence, the darkness and the light .... the whole me from the deep down was what I wanted to express. Maybe there is a childish coward, maybe there is a freak nerd, maybe there is a strong man or maybe there is also an destructive evil monster. I don't wanted to judge and just wanted to watch inside of me and express them and I didn't want to make any intentional balancing among them. So maybe this mix is more biased to some aspects and I think "well then, that is me, at the moment""

PREMIERE : How To Levitate - Following Paths [Aarden Records]

OHM has an impressive catalog of releases and is well known within the dub techno scene
already. One thing has united his previous releases and that‘s the fact
they have been done in collaboration with others such as
with Exos, Octal Industries, and Kvadrant. Now X/OZ offers
the debut solo release by OHM and what a beauty it is!

Side A begins with Going Back, an enigmatic & atmospheric dub journey. The track slowly unravels with dub chords and glacial pads captivating the listener and ultimately creating a universe of impenetrable soundscapes. Next is As We See It Coming, a late-night club scorcher. It's dark and heavy and absolutely relentless.

The flipside starts with Fever, a fast percussion-based
techno banger. The EP is rounded up by Seidingur, a minimalistic and meditative work that slowly expands and elucidates into a broad atmospheric techno anthem a perfect soundtrack to sunrise after a busy summer night at the club. The debut solo EP by OHM has been a long time in the making and finally, the results have been broadcasted into the cosmos. This is a must for fans of out of box techno with elements of atmospheric dub. An essential for the crate diggers.

XOZ has been operating since 2017 and is this the ninth release so far. Also operating under the same regime is the side label Planet X, where the harder side of techno is explored. Both of the labels are the brainchild of the Icelandic techno artist Exos.
