Those who dig deep into the history of house and techno are well familiar with Circulation - which back then included erstwhile partner Matt Jackson alongside Paul Davis. It was a seminal duo who, from 1998 onwards, put out more than 45 timeless EPs on their self-titled label, toured the world, and headlined at places like Sonar and fabric. The pair went their separate ways in 2007, but now Davis is back with renewed energy, having spent much of the pandemic year falling back in love with making music. As such, he has launched his own new label and has a wealth of new material ready to go in 2021.

This EP again showcases how the producer's sound has matured and evolved, with more of a focus on long-form electronic trips but still an earnest devotion to the dancefloor. It opens with 'Judge' (3am Mix), a sublime ten-minute excursion into the cosmos. The tense, tight drums bring a sense of urgency as the vast pads arch way up above. There is both lightness and dark, beauty and intensity in this track, making it all the more appealing.

Things pick up even more for the pounding 'Judge,' which is high-class body music with sustained pads keeping you on edge and knotted bass bringing serious weight beneath the crisp, snappy drums. 'United State' has a buoyant groove built on smooth drum loops with chords that suspend you in mid-air. The arrival of some beautifully twinkling keys adds to the cleansing and overall cathartic effect. The excellent 'Crunchie' closes down with exquisite synth designs unfolding like a starry night sky over a heavy and rolling dub techno rhythm.

Circulation’s return is hugely welcome as the artist once again brings class and authenticity to his ever-excellent sounds.

I know how hard is this track to remix, and she delivered this absolute bomb showcasing her trademark sound made of hypnotic drum patterns, intricate arpeggios, thumping kicks and driving bass lines.

Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Microlot back to the label with his album "Singular Moments". Hailing from Australia, Luke Warren aka Mircolot has been a fixture of Australia's electronic underground for the better part of a decade. Noted for his evocative textures, organic grooves and dubby rhythmic structures, Microlot's craft shines through vividly, making each one of his creations an absorbing experience. On the strength of releases for Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas, the Sydney resident made his Sound Avenue debut in 2021 with a remix of Madloch and Subnode's 'Utopia', a project which would lead to a two-track showcase via label affiliate Crossfade Sounds in 2022.

The Electronic Music Community in Israel comes together in a compilation of original tracks for the survivors of the tragic attack on October 7th at the Supernova International Music Festival.

Supernova hosted dancers, artists and crew from 20 different countries. When Hamas terrorists targeted an unarmed, apolitical group such as this one, the result was a heavy loss for hundreds of young souls, beautiful ravers, music people, and advocates for peace. 

Both our local community and the entire global music community, at large, have been deeply affected by this unfathomable tragedy.

While hundreds of our loved ones suffer irreparable damage and many still hostage in Gaza, we are committed to using the power of music to help.

Israeli producers from the trance, techno, and EDM scenes have contributed over 50 original tracks.

We, the artists and musicians, stand with our friends and families that are now critically in need of support.

A fitting finale to bring down the curtain on Selador's Decade Escapade, this UK-France-Portugal tag team sees boss man Steve Parry in tandem with label debutants Mario ‘n’ Mustache concocting a rare beauty. Lose yourself as its soul stirring keys and instantly memorable motifs ride serenely over an acidic soundscape.

Sebastian Busto, Abi Ferraresi - Breathe (Teiao Remix) [Moonlight]

Praised for his genre-defying style, Valencia based artist AFFKT is an ambassador of melodic techno and contemporary electronic music of thousand faces. This EP for LNOE is a good example of his versatility and skills.

“Assault” is rhythmically free flowing and sprawling, with synth melodies that evolve into rippling keys. No less catchy and sensorial is the sound provided on “Penjoll”. Narcotic and mysterious, but still a powerful and gripping journey which works perfect to set the mood of any mix.

This 3-track EP is completed with a really unique flavour given by “Ippon”. On this cut AFFKT also detail his enthusiasm for experimenting with different melodies and electronic frequencies and how they affect our bodies and minds. A track laden with romance and retrowave 80’s synth wonderfulness. Emotive and danceable quality music.

Penjoll

Paul Davis is a name that might not readily trip off the tongue these days, but dial back 15 years and his Circulation project (alongside erstwhile partner Matt Jackson) was a hugely successful electronic act that toured the world and was responsible for an iconic series of colour-related dancefloor bangers, from Green right through to their final act as a duo in 2005. 

His first release for 15 years came out last October via Argentinian label Electronic Groove under the name Paul Davis aka Circulation. He’s now simplified his moniker down to Circulation. Already working on vocal tracks with various singers (among them Ricky Bar-row, formerly of The Aloof), his music has noticeably matured from his days as part of of the original duo; the sound is less impulsive, the tracks drawn out (almost languid) but without removing their foot from the dancefloor power. He may well have been away awhile but expect to hear much more of Davis over the coming year: now fully back in Circulation.
