Nightcolours begin 2023 with bang courtesy of Greek producer Hacobb who makes his second appearance on the label with the Hyacinth EP.

Opening proceedings is Eos Chasma a deep and driving affair stuffed full of distorted synths, snarling bass and rattling percussion. It’s moody, mean and magnificent!

Next we have Hyacinth, this little gem is packed to the brim with smiles. The pulsing bassline, shimmering vocals and urgent drums drive this one ever onwards towards melodic goodness.

Orizondas is up next and it’s a heavy hitting monster with huge drums and the melodic line to match.
Taking on remix duties is Hungarian producer Yöurr who delivers a stunning rework stripping things back and ratcheting up the tension.

DJ Koze unveils a spiritual and surprising journey into rapturous spheres with `Wespennest EP´. The visionary artist and master of electronic sound, presents his first own release after 2018's global club hit `Pick Up´.

`Candidasa´ and `Wespennest´ are the result of DJ Kozes inspiring stay in a secluded Benedictine monastery on the enchanting island of Sulawesi. Amidst this idyllic setting, he found the perfect environment to unleash his musical vision. He composed all of the music of `Candidasa´ while lying on his stomach, in an act of deepest devotion and self-reflection. In doing so, he fed exclusively on so-called heroin kebabs to immerse himself in a trance-like state of creative flow. The result is a soundscape of unimagined depth and beauty that enchants the senses and transports listeners to another dimension by massively increasing the frequency of flicker fusion.

On `Wespennest´ the wonderful Sophia Kennedy takes the stage and breathes a new dimension into the music with her impactful lyrics and vocals. With generous dedication, Sophia has provided exclusive excerpts of her yet unreleased songs, giving this track a radiant psychedelic power. The combination of DJ Kozes musical genius and Sophia Kennedy's glorious vocals creates a club track full of wonderment, opening up a mystical rapturous world for listeners. Already an instant classic of German dance music. 

With `Candidasa´ and `Wespennest´ DJ Koze has once again pushed the boundaries of electronic sounds and created a spiritual journey that touches the soul and frees the mind. This EP is the first harbinger of his highly anticipated new album, which will be released in 2024. Story of "Bicycle Day": 

On April 19, 1943, Hofmann performed a self-experiment to determine the true effects of LSD, intentionally ingesting 0.25 milligrams of the substance, an amount he predicted to be a threshold dose. Less than an hour later, on his way biking home Hofmann experienced sudden and intense changes in perception. His condition rapidly deteriorated as he struggled with feelings of anxiety, alternating in his beliefs that the LSD had poisoned him that he was going insane. However,  soon his terror began to give way to a sense of good fortune and enjoyment, as he later wrote...
"... Little by little I could begin to enjoy the unprecedented colors and plays of shapes that persisted behind my closed eyes. Kaleidoscopic, fantastic images surged in on me, alternating, variegated, opening and then closing themselves in circles and spirals, exploding in colored fountains, rearranging and hybridizing themselves in constant flux ..."
It was not just for Albert Hofmann that his bicycle trip would become a special event. His “trip” was legendary. Bicycle Day is increasingly observed in psychedelic communities as a day to celebrate the discovery of LSD.

German veteran Marc Romboy is back on André Hommen’s These Eyes imprint with a stellar two track release entitled ‘Elka EP’, showcasing Marc’s effortless ability to portray alluring and emotive characteristics through music. This offering follows up from ‘Trapped In An Orbit’, which he released on the label in 2017 and remains a label highlight to this day. 

The title track ‘Elka’ provides a stirring and suspenseful journey that plays out as it’s melodies unfold over a bassline that pulses gently and impels the listener. ‘Unreal Sun’ ups the energy with a groove thats ready to fall into and chords that lead the way, dictating the pace as their intensity undulates. 

Marc Romboy has dedicated 30 years to the scene, with an impressive history of releases on labels like Innervisions and his own Systematic Recordings, collaborating with artists such as Stephan Bodzin. It is a point to be made that the A side to this release is one of Marc’s personal favourites to date and it is clear to see why.

Bedrock welcomes one of the best storytellers in electronic music to the label. Lexer is a young man from Leipzig, Germany, whose enchanting DJ sets are steadily developing their own mythology and whose productions for the likes of Katermukke, Einmusika, Voltaire Music and his own Wild Animals imprint, are positioning him as a rapidly rising star within the global melodic techno scene.

Opening with Odyssey, Lexer lets his pulsating groove gently weave its subtle, hypnotic spell before distinctive, swirling audio trickery and layers of clever melodic hooks and cheeky synth riffs stamp a decidedly unique identity on the track. Run Like A Rebel also has an exceptional fun factor rating. An instantly enticing percussive groove is interspersed with teasing synth swells that wonderfully build drama and anticipation, before the analogue layers evolve into an inimitable melodic symphony finale. Its hard not to crack a smile at Lexers highly original style he is a born entertainer through and through.

Renowned for his radiant smile when behind the decks, absorbed in his sound, as one with the crowd, Lexer truly feels how happy he makes people with what he's doing. It is his humility and humanity that draw audiences into his orbit via DJ sets and musical productions that tell a story of letting go, of being free and happy. Since making his mark with his album debut Nowhere Else (2015) and its follow-up Against The Current (2017), Lexers reputation has continued its global expansion and now, with his debut Bedrock release he is about to step up to the next level.

Lexer - Odyssey

Paul Davis is a name that might not readily trip off the tongue these days, but dial back 15 years and his Circulation project (alongside erstwhile partner Matt Jackson) was a hugely successful electronic act that toured the world and was responsible for an iconic series of colour-related dancefloor bangers, from Green right through to their final act as a duo in 2005. 

His first release for 15 years came out last October via Argentinian label Electronic Groove under the name Paul Davis aka Circulation. He’s now simplified his moniker down to Circulation. Already working on vocal tracks with various singers (among them Ricky Bar-row, formerly of The Aloof), his music has noticeably matured from his days as part of of the original duo; the sound is less impulsive, the tracks drawn out (almost languid) but without removing their foot from the dancefloor power. He may well have been away awhile but expect to hear much more of Davis over the coming year: now fully back in Circulation.
