Sam’s EP boot’s off with ‘Chocolate’, a track that builds and builds using detuned synths, stabs and funky drums to make any dance floor erupt. ‘Domino’ is a track that’s bassline drones underneath its own distinctive synth line to keep the drums rolling along steadily. The title track ‘Black Leather’ is everything you would expect in a Drumcode record; a subtle throbbing bass line which, keeps the track moving before the synth stabs enrapture the track and twist it into a dark, throbbing composition. The final track ‘Daegon’ uses dubbed out drums to incorporate a synth melody line that will blow your socks off and rounds off this well shaped EP.

Mark Fanciulli kick starts a prolific run of heavy releases for 2014 with an inventive and dynamic EP for Carl Craig's Planet E imprint. Released on May 5th, “chord kaoss” is yet another example of why Mark Fanciulli is heralded as one of electronic music’s most forward thinking and dexterous young producers: a reputation that is only going to flourish as the genre-defying, instinctive releases roll out over next few months.
The EP launches off head-first with the thunderous “chord kaoss.”  Pounding 4/4s and thick, driving bass provide the backbone of what is an uncompromising, relentlessly underground workout. The powerful bottom end churns away as snapping hi-hats, fluid synth stabs and deep chords all collide to create a track full of atmosphere and energy.

“Helsinki” is less dancefloor focused, taking a slightly left of centre approach to classic, Detroit techno. Rising, old school chords waft over the simmering low layers that bubble with a slower but immersive groove. Warm synths stretch over the top creating an aesthetic that is at once unfamiliar and inviting. A mere insight into Mark Fanciulli’s skill behind the desk, this EP is the first impressive work to be born out the creative fires of what looks set to be the most potent period of his career to date.

What more can be said about Carl Cox… The term “legend’ is thrown about way too easily in electronic music, but there is no question about the status of dance music history’s most recognisable global figure.

A musical ambassador, a veteran of acid house, a champion of techno and a professional DJ since his early teens. Carl has been playing music, breaking tunes and celebrating life and never losing sight of his passions for over 30 years.

The list of accolades is endless, two top UK top 40 hits, 6 studio albums, 16 million weekly listeners to his global radio show, multi label owner, 12 years as the king of Space Ibiza, the most universally admired dj in dance music, and as Yousef puts it,

“when the history books are written, there will be only one name etched into authentic folk law of who was the greatest dj of all time - Carl Cox”

Carl elopes for his first solo single away from Intec digital in many years. It’s fitting that “time for house music” appears on the label of his biggest fan and padawan, Yousef and his renowned Circus Recordings.

The original encompasses the width of the Carl Cox sound in 2014, jacking drums, warm bass, a thumping house and techno hybrid, and of course the classic Cox energy and charisma that we all know (and love)

Davide Squillace returns the remix favour for Carl in outstanding style, and it has to be said, this could be Davide’s finest moment as a producer to date, an incredible remake. Gnarly rhythms, picky hooks and a twisted bass, one of the great remixes this year no doubt.

After a chance meeting with Yousef, Second City confessed to how much he would love to be involved with Circus Recordings, so Yousef offered the chart topper a chance to remix Carl Cox (no pressure then…) Second City reveals another side to his psyche, sharp drums, a pulsating groove, a track that will be at home with Carola, Dice and Fanciulli

To complete the package Circus Recordings own David Glass steps up, delivering a strong finale. The killer remix was debuted at Boiler Room Liverpool to huge applause when Glassy appeared this month, proving why he is one of the leaders of the next generation of authentic house and techno names

The final word from Carl Cox:

I have to say, everything comes to those who wait, and it was totally worth it. This package is amazing to say the least, all mixes, sound so good, but the David Glass is the clear winner for me, it so fucking funky, i cannot stop playing it. It rocks so much, I am almost in tears. Thank you so much for believing in my music as it means a lot.

2. CARL COX - Time For House Music (Davide Squillace Remix) CIRCUS RECORDINGS - MASTER

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

My first big record on a well known and influential label. I gave the music to @Josh Wink and it took him one year to release it, which was pretty normal back in the day. 

“Menina Brasileira” came after I watched a wack movie with Penelope Cruz, ate something wrong and had a bad night’s sleep. The next day I went to the studio with the idea to produce a deep house track. Not a cliché deep house track, but to capture a deep house vibe in a non-deep house track. 

Just listen to the vocal on the flip, “Jacuzzi Games,” and you can imagine the scenario.

Only five releases away from the 100th, Rodriguez Jr. delivers on the 095 with a generous 4-track, digital only edition titled "Muppet Anthem".

The self-titled number makes up the first track on the EP with a pleasant array of upbeat house-party elements and groovy vocals making this piece of work totally dance-floor worthy in the heat of the summer.

Seething down to the second track, "Ocean Drive" takes it down a notch by starting the track with exotic and tropical elements as it progresses into a high peak of faster beats and steady keyboard strikes. Its a number that will leave your feet grounded as your swaying shoulders and bobbing head lead the dance.

"Satellite" comprises the third number an emotional hymn bursting with soulful vocals and periodic tambourine jingles and jangles. Enjoy this eye closer preferably with your head back and arms reaching towards the sky.

Closing out the set is "Palo Alto", a high tempo number with various calculated beats one setting off the next. Crying vocals wrapped in multi-faceted elements will leave even your goosebumps dancing.

The French producer/DJ has a stupendous track record with mobilee and its sister label, Leena. In 2011 he released his very first album titled "Bittersweet" on the mobilee imprint. The summer of 2012 has seen weekly gigs throughout Europes favorite beach bars and waterfront clubs with Rodriguez Jr.

<p>In the same vein as her recently launched MOOD imprint, Believe is suited to a number of atmospheres and settings. Across the nine original productions and one collaboration with label boss Adam Beyer, Nicole has crafted a sonically diverse long-player of sounds which draw on the plethora of styles electronic music has to offer. From her accustomed techno to twisted house and everything in-between, the stylistic variety on offer means cuts Believe will easily feature in more intimate settings and big-room venues alike. Believe features a host of tracks aimed squarely at the clubs. From the moody Movin On, the bass-heavy Do Your Thing, to the industrial techno grooves on Come And Lay and the hypnotic chanting vocal on Get On It, the techno-aficionados will not be disappointed with what is sublime set of cuts that will no doubt destroy any dance-floor. </p>

<p>In contrast however, there are more intimate moments to be found. For example the rhythmically entrancing yet uplifting Fly With You, to Liberum Spirita with its mazy ethereal breakdown, and the synth-heavy percussive builder Lumière Tamisée. Nicoles further flexes her production muscle with the stripped back dub-flavours of Big Love With No Apology, and a robotic groove-laden funk on the standout Can I Get Some. Believe delivers a consummate body of work with which Nicoles considerable abilities in the studio are clear for all to hear. A wide-range of sounds that is sure to appeal to the idiosyncratic tastes of the various sub-sections of electronic music community. Furthermore, it lives up to the high-standards of previous Drumcode long-players and is an engrossing and impressive debut; and one that offers a smooth segue into the next chapter of an already exciting career.</p>
