Bio of Cisco Pike
Terence Malley: ‘Ever since I was 15 when I got in to see the movie ‘Cisco Pike’, starring Kris Kristofferson and Gene Hackman, back in 1972 I have used Cisco Pike as my non-de-plume, with many friends from that era still referring to me by that name.  At time of writing, Jan 2014, I am now 56 and I suppose heading towards my twilight years.  As a teacher for many years, I have always wondered if there was a hit song lurking in my extensive back catalogue of songs that would secure my premature retirement – maybe now is that time!  Teaming up with Jack Axton, aged 17 and nearly 40 years younger than me, has given me a new musical lease of life.   In both temperament and music knowledge, he displays a maturity far beyond his current age and I am sure he is bound for greatness in the not too distant future, so in this respect I am happy to hold on to his coat-tails!
I guess it is slightly incongruous, with our age differences, seeing the two of us up on stage at our local venues blasting out originals and blues covers with the help of some great musician friends, but it seems to work with the kind of audience reception we are getting.   Anyway, I am delighted with what we are achieving after only about 3 months as we work together through his and my songs, as well as some great cover songs and songs we have written together.  It seems like we have enough material already to provide for 4-5 albums worth of songs – so, long may it continue!’

Jack Axton: ‘Not sure who that Terence Malley geezer is but he talks a lot of sense!  Seriously, I am also delighted to be working alongside an experienced musician like Terry.  He writes some great songs and lyrics and has helped me with some useful song construction advice.   Sometime soon, we hope to put on a full show, attracting both young and old to hear the great variety of songs we produce together. I’ve been in a variety of bands and it seems this one in particular has something about it. The music I’m doing now is more close to the way I’ve always wanted these songs to come out and I am really happy with this collaboration with Terry.    I was in a two piece band called ‘The Red Bricks’ that had an edge but the music wasn’t strong enough but now our joint CD album, called ‘Better Days’, is here and I am really happy with its outcome.   I hope you agree with us too.
