Playa Epilogue

This mix aired for Proton Radio's Featured Artist series on 01/04/23. It was made in the spirit of reflection, vision and intention that accompanies the new year. 

In creating this musical journey, I held buoyancy, intrigue, curiosity, and friendship up to the lens, selecting tracks with a vibe I find encouraging, playful, and sometimes intimate. This is journey for a walk in the woods or a beautiful train ride or road trip, cinematic and compelling. Music stays with me everywhere, and it's my soul work to create and share it with you.

From the network of souls and spirits that loom in the loam, a dark figure emerged as if summoned. At first I trembled and shook, and then I took a closer look and saw that the shadow with it's arm outstretched toward me offered not terror, but dance and mysterious melody. And in this way, was born Shadow Play. A way to be free for both friend and enemy. A way travelled  with love through the darkness and the light.

Spirit Ventures XI: Shadow Play

It was an honor to intentionally welcome in the sounds of producers from across the globe into this closing set for Seattle's Caravan party. Captured at Cherry on 12.03.23.

Amber sunlight sent our shadows bouncing around odd rock formations and otherworldly trees and we ran through the canyon and out into the open desert.
There is a feeling of having dropped into another era when cruising through Joshua Tree. While rounding a corner into another grove of spiny trees two ravens took flight, and somewhere between my periphery and my imagination they morphed into flying reptiles from long ago. There's plenty of space and time for the weird while rhythmically loping across the loose pebbles and dirt of SoCal desert. I've had the energy I absorbed there with me since then. I'm excited to pass it along to you. 

Installment two of the Spirit Ventures series is made as the companion piece for spring and inspired by a March trip to Joshua Tree. Many of the tracks within echoed through my mind while crossing that arid and beautiful place. Take it and run, take it and dance. Let your wild side out!

Spirit Ventures VII: Unity Transmission

Citrus Age spins up sets of dusty deep house and melodic techno that connect the personal to the ethereal, and the wild to the tender.

As a lifelong musician in pursuit of exceptional vibrations, Citrus was initially drawn to dance music by the heady and sparkling sounds emanating from the art cars of Black Rock City. Citrus Age began DJing in 2019 and quickly became a resident for Seattle deep house collective Reflect, playing parties throughout the Pacific Northwest. Always one to hold a vision, he led the Reflect collective into their current form as a crew changing the shape of deep, melodic music in the Pacific Northwest through their open air parties, micro festivals and club nights that feature bespoke line-ups of local and international talent.

Citrus Age's selections integrate compelling, steady rhythms, intricate and sublime melodies, and a definite sensuality. These sensibilities, held within the context of the party, make for sets that raise the vibration on the dance floor and invite everyone to turn on, tune in and come together.
