Toni Dimitrov & Demetrio Cecchitelli – A New Dawn (Shimmering Moods, 2022)


Like the sudden passage of a light ray, this new and first collaborative effort by Dimitrov & Cecchitelli evokes images of daily-life surrounded by a whitening veil of nostalgia and melancholy. An immersion into the multifaceted colours of ambient music, precisely in a direction of slow transformation dilated sounds into space, time and imagination. Deep textures mainly developed by Cecchitelli and strong soundscape/found sounds source from Dimitrov’s archive, yet extraneous either reflecting, all transporting to a structured aesthetics that takes back to the idea of a sound installation within a land-art point of view or a scenography merely composed of organic elements. Materic at the intersection between real and surreal, a spiritual voyage.

ALPHABET explores the combinatorics between signs on one side and signals on the other. The performance, inspired by the Etymologies of Isidore of Seville twisting the scientific rigor to privilege phonetic acquaintances, revisits the strategies of representation invented by the man to tell the world around him in the digital age. ALPHABET invites the spectator to immerse themselves in the multiple relationships that, through language and its digital translations, maintain words and things.

After many collaborations this new record by Anne-James Chaton and Carsten Nicolai aka Alva Noto speaks a new language, generated by the fusion of objective poetry and minimal music. From the dialogue of the graph and the glitch a poetics of the code is born from which arises a representation of the contemporary world.

Billy Hesmondhalgh came to me with a purposeful album of music he created specially for Silent Season. Dawnlit Passage is his first release of lovely deep techno which he's been working on the past year. Adam Gonsalves at Telegraph Mastering gave it the final touches.

A change of pace, of weather, of feeling. The days are growing shorter in Brooklyn as we look towards the Fall season. This Sunday also marks the first year of this series completed. 12 different Sunday mornings, each with their memories are in the books. To say it went by quickly is an understatement but it’s been a pleasure nonetheless. The comments and support throughout have been great to hear, I’m happy to share music that I find and even happier to hear when others feel the same.

Citty
Citty is live modular techno project founded by Martin Vodicka. Created to explore the sound possibilities of our times, to examine the effect of sound hypnosis on living subjects, to create impressions of non-existent worlds by using unheard atmospheres and modulation of noise. The variety of sounds Citty composes goes from dark ambient atmospheres and drones to hypnotic techno including not straight rhythms and patterns combined with distortions. 
His live show consists in a variety of drum machines, samplers and modular synthesizers. Due to improvisation with modular synth on stage you can be surprised by weird melodies and crazy noises which makes each performance unique.
Citty started in 2014 although Martin is in music industry for more than 10 years. Together with Segment he organizes “Come In”  a series of Techno events in Czech Republic. He also host a series of modular workshops and classes. As Citty he already worked with artists like MODVS, Michal Jablonski or The Variable Man.
