The production heavyweight trio that is Michael and Levan and Stiven Rivic, provides a powerful collaborative combination with global repute. As the three artists converge on Proton Music, "Gamma Rays" is revealed along with remixes from Canada and the Netherlands.

Michael and Levan and Stiven Rivic are no strangers to the underground dance scene. Responsible for ownership of the platinum Mistique Music and Kunai imprints that continue to chart an impressive path with their roster of talent, the trio are themselves responsible for some six-hundred production credits. Thus, work for the likes of Baroque, Perspectives Digital and ICONYC, showcase flair and talent in equal measure, with the latter responsible for the July 2017 "Witchcraft" EP, including a remix from the legendary figure of Jimmy Van M. Joining the ranks of Proton Music with a debut original release, "Gamma Rays" is a joyous voyage through sumptuous melody and trademark dance floor domination. Building effortlessly with intricate percussive groove and dominant kick, a running bass line and off-beat hi-hat provide urgency. An emotive chord progression and pulsating white-noise effects in a stripped back breakdown then supply the perfect precursor for rhythm and melody to converge once more in the third movement, to stunning effect.

Operating out of the cosmopolitan Montreal, Tone Depth, is an artist with an impressive reputation and portfolio to his name. Responsible for music that has been featured on Global Underground, Renaissance and Bedrock in the first decade of the millennium, a "spiritual epiphany" in 2015, afforded him the opportunity to draw breath outside of city life and re-evaluate his musical passions. Thus, a "sweeping new sound" was born that has seen Tone Depth hit the catalogues of Noir Music, Jee Productions and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat. Furthermore, the creation of the Bad Pony imprint has provided a vehicle for both his own work and a host of talented producers. Making an impressive debut on Proton Music with Simply City, and July 2017's "Glass Elevator", Tone Depth now returns with a remix that sees the textured pads so resonant in the original, transformed above a dramatic and pounding club groove that hypnotises with its percussive prowess. A barrage of pressurised steam effects pan the stereo spectrum as the melodic riff, so central to Michael and Levan and Stiven Rivic's work, rises and falls throughout, clearly making its presence felt in a delicious breakdown.

Dutch pair, Mononoid, have become highly respected figures in the underground dance scene. Finding a natural home on the Einmusika imprint with a score of production credits and a debut album in May 2017's "Coming Home", the duo has carved out a niche for themselves with their "unique mixture of cinematographic and melodic techno forms". Further work has found itself featuring on Click Records and a collaboration with countryman, Navar, on the "Dreambox EP" for microCastle, while July 2017's remix of Dan Sieg for Mango Alley sits alongside a high-profile King Unique rework. Making a 2015 debut on Particles with the "Lack of Evidence" EP, a trio of remixes is now followed by a fourth as Mononoid take the textured pads of "Gamma Rays" and treat them to an intelligent and highly original workout, courtesy of an array of additional production material. Keeping the hypnotic vibe of the original intact, a haunting lead line meanders across mid-range with veritable ease as a pounding kick, urgent percussive cadence and a host of effects, create a visionary new interpretation worthy of the "Overseas Rework" name.

As Michael and Levan and Stiven Rivic create "Gamma Rays", Tone Depth and Mononoid radiate positivity with their remixes.

RIGOONI Feat. Bruna Helena - We Get Used (Original Mix)

'Following the success of his "One Side of the Underground" series, Rick Pier O'Neil now presents Vol. 3 with new original tracks plus remixes from UK and Argentinean industry icons.

An artist with a 24-carat reputation within the underground dance industry, Rick Pier O'Neil follows on from where he left off in "Vol. 2". "Travel Meet" sees a collaboration with French artist Sonov as a ticking percussive groove and grooved bassline build alongside a hypnotic arpeggio. Evolving elegantly, white-noise swirls and granular pads add to the sonic architecture alongside new melodic motifs in the second half. "Manipulation" sees O'Neil join forces with Ukrainian artist Serge Landar in a mesmerising work that revels in sustained bassline prowess. A shaker-fuelled percussive framework supplies dancefloor character and a rich array of counterpoint melodies play off each other as arpeggios and pads combine in complex stratified layers. The third original offering is a solo affair that finds O'Neil showcasing his production skills through "Fair Trade". A glorious rhythmic and bass groove provides energy throughout as trademark textured pads and white-noise swirls ripple back and forth across the stereo soundstage. Delayed analogue motifs make an appearance at the breakdown that bridges the darker bass and percussion-oriented movements either side. The result is another classy piece.

There are few more iconic names in the underground dance industry than, Nick Muir. As one half of the Bedrock duo with John Digweed and a double century of appearances on the latter's Bedrock imprint, Muir is as relevant today as he was during his legendary work in the late 90s. Also finding his name allied to the likes of Vapour Recordings, Perspectives Digital and Watergate, Muir's DJ career has seen him perform across the globe on a regular basis. Making his Proton Music debut, the Nick Muir remix of "Tribute" is a gloriously dynamic affair that takes the central bassline of the original and transforms takes it on storming journey alongside a glorious array of arps, beautifully textured pads and rich melodic motifs. The addition of a club-friendly beat and groove-laden percussion is sure to fill dancefloors the world over.

An established producer and DJ in his own right, Nicolas Rada's work for the Balkan Connection family of labels is second to none. Moreover, recent collaborative work with UK star, Nick Warren, has seen Rada hit the musical spotlight time and time again with a plethora of incredible work, not least on Warren's The Soundgarden imprint. A pair of remixes for Proton Music has shone a bright light on GMJ and Matter and Andre Sobota as Nicolas Rada returns for a third outing taking on "System" with typical aplomb. A trademark rolling groove forms the basis for freeform melodic phrasing to flow across the 9-minute rework as familiar refrains from O'Neil's original resonate throughout in intelligent fashion. Using an array of additional material and immaculate technique thus find Rada at the top of his production game.

Introduced in 1985, the machine was a "major step in the democratization of electronic music production.” Its tight timing, built-in MIDI capability and user-friendly software sequencers amazed a young Pole Folder. Endless nights in the “studio” with Depeche Mode and Pink Floyd on repeat moulded him for years to come. As one of progressive house's leading lights, the Belgian now returns to his roots. Rapid-fire beats, faint vocals and warm synth waves compose another timeless piece.

An artist with an enviable reputation and production portfolio, Gavin Griffin has scaled the north face of the underground dance scene with aplomb, reaching the summit with a distinctive and unique brand of progressive house that finds him one of the industry's most in-demand producers of recent years. Able to point to a career trajectory that has seen him perform behind the decks at the likes of Amsterdam's Club NL for Replug's 10th anniversary event during ADE 2019, or close Melbourne's "Rainbow Serpent" festival with his fellow countryman, collaborator and co-founder of Meanwhile, GMJ's list of achievements grows with each passing month.

Returning to the Meanwhile with a debut solo offering, "Mood Medicine" is replete with GMJ's passion for "deep emotive electronic music" as the title track bristles with percussive firepower before a seismic kick and bouncing, filtered bassline weaves a magical spell across the near 9-minute piece. White-noise effects build the tension as a sparkling arpeggio glitters into life at the mid-point onwards before exploding into the post-breakdown denouement with assurance.
