To participate in the Haiku Music challenge::

- Make a song in response to the weekly assigned poem (a new poem is published every Wednesday)
- When choosing a title for your piece also include the assignment number, for example “Title of your track (naviarhaiku382)”

- If you’re a Soundcloud user, upload it on Soundcloud and send me the URL via private message, or tag me in the track.
- If you upload your music on Youtube, Bandcamp or anywhere else, upload your submission and then send me the link by email at marco@naviarrecords.com or contact me on X, Facebook or Instagram

I put together three generative parts for this in Reason - using Grain, Europa & AudioDamage Phosphor. I then moved over the first take of this to Ableton and did some processing there - some dirt, some echo, a touch of reverb.

This was my second contribution for Disquiet Junto Project 0698: Second Third. The Assignment: Record the second third of a trio.

For the second track, I went with “Mr. Bowed Jangles” by @tristan_louth_robins. I extended the length of it by looping the piece 2.5 times. Then created the right channel track using Dillon Bastan’s Max For Live granular looper device Iota in Ableton Live.

The Assignment: Record the second third of a trio.

I chose a track randomly from the lines thread last week and ended up with @xhg 's field recording (https://soundcloud.com/xhg/disquiet0697-sunday-morning-gardening).  All the sounds I used for the beat came from xhg's recording and I tried to take cues from it as well.  For example, I tried to match the steps in the middle section for the pace, 109BPM.  I used a resonator set to G# because the bell heard in the last third of the recording is roughly a G#.

You are hearing some shortwave recording of military weather reports, and what is (allegedly) a Russian diplomatic service transmission (time-stretched), bad violin playing and the sound of wind in the trees of my garden. Kinda concerned I've packed too much in here, but hope there's space for someone to add something more in part 3. It's been fun- thanks Alan Blip & Junto crew for the provocation :)

I use Logic, especially with Arturia’s V collection as my go to software synth and recording experience. My first step was to create a pleasant, if rather banal, arrangement with an arpeggiator preset on the CS-80 emulation, accompanied by an ambient wash thanks to Arturia’s “voices” engine. Then I messed with the buses, sending inputs to inputs, outputs to outputs and creating such a horrible feedback loop that I almost blew out my headphones. The resultant cacophony was not really listenable, even if imagine as belonging to the genre of noise music. It was mess of distorted glitches, high pitched wailing and intermittent period of silence when my processor simply decided that it had enough.  To tame the mess, I imported the file into a new Logic session, massaged it vigorously with granular and time stretching effects, with a bit of panning and considerable volume control. The result, I think, can now be listened to without incurring ear damage.

This track uses Gimp and Audacity to create sound from images. I uploaded two original images in different formats to Audacity, made various adjustments to the resulting sound and added some delay, reverb, etc.

So i decided to use my browser i use dozens of times a day and for turning what the web has to offer into music i gave SORA (ChatGPT image AI) this prompt: "i want to synthesize image content into a soundscape so i need some original spectral image to  load into visualans"
images i got which i loaded into PaintShop Pro i often use for my photographic work (Olympus E 520 and Nikon D3500) to crop, resize and sharpen softly
These resulting images were loaded in to WarmPlace.ru 'VisualANS' image resynthesis and exported to .WAV i could arrange in Ableton. Some of those sample material was chopped and arranged into beats to top two layers of retroish, oldschool, early era of electronic music sound layers.
