Born in Berlin on the day when the wall came down Jamila was already breathing some of the revolutionary air around. A strong will to positively affect the world's injustice through cultural activism was inspired by her Palestinian father who came to Germany as a refugee. In early years she started writing her own songs that merge soul, funk, arab folklore and disco styles. After music studies in London and Hildesheim, she's back to Berlin where she met her band: The other Heroes, composed of Johannes Steidle, master on Rhodes, Benedikt Schnitzler (guitar) & the Kaletta brothers: Raphael (drums) and Bastian (bass). Together they are experimenting to create a vibrant, soulful and must-dance sound.
