What I post here usually begins as a kernel of a strict voice-leading study that goes haywire in an interesting-enough way.

I've been an independent but passionate student of strict counterpoint since July of 2016, with the perhaps pointless but go-big goal of being able to think of myself as an expert, self-taught contrapuntist within a few years. (I'll be keeping my day job ...) Whether I eventually write actual music or not, I get a lot of joy out of exploring polyphony.

I study largely from Heinrich Schenker--- my pedagogical guru generally--- but also from Gauldin, Albrechtsberger, and Cherubini, among others.
