'If I Wasn't Scared' assumes a man's perspective of a relationship as he struggles to balance his feelings with a 'tough guy' image, particularly among 'the boys'. It is a toxic masculinity tale that strips back cold layers of indifference and questions the fear that it uncovers.

So for the final mix of the year in the Take a Trip series we have @hinakoomori , a musician with a love for synthesizers and anything that makes interesting sounds. 

Hinako's own production combines ambientspace-synths with field recordings and her own ethereal vocals. Thematically, her music is influenced by the idea of space and infinity, floating into separate universes — everything being transparent and lucid, and the idea that nothing is permanent.

For the mix Hinako decided to do a sonic representation of a dream they had recently, that they scrawled into their iPhone notes when they woke up one morning… all the tracks are chosen around the theme of the dream.

The Dream: Walking around the Swiss alps on a day off, and I get lost trying to record the sound of icicles. I take a train towards the mountains to a large film auditorium, where the whole class is sat round wearing headphones.The ground is springy and spongy.
