Lucia Lu explores techno as a space of transformation. Her sound is hypnotic and deep,
charged with energy yet grounded in depth—designed not just to move bodies, but to open
inner landscapes. Inspired by the origins of Detroit techno, she understands the genre as a
form of resistance: music shaped by collapse, yet reaching toward liberation. Her sets unfold
patiently, allowing dancers to lose themselves and reconnect through rhythm, intensity, and
presence.

Starting her solo career in 2021, Lucia Lu explored genre-fluid DJ sets as a process of searching — tracing her musical roots between the African diaspora and the German club scene, moving through house and techno without fixed boundaries.

In 2025, this exploration crystallized into a clear artistic shift. Leaving genre fluidity behind, she now dedicates herself fully to techno, drawing inspiration from the pioneering spirit of Detroit while translating it into a contemporary, driving club language. Her sets are focused, hypnotic and intentional — rooted in history, built for the floor.

Expert Voices on Atrocity Prevention is a podcast by the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect. The podcast, hosted by Global Centre Deputy Executive Director Jaclyn Streitfeld-Hall, features one-on-one conversations with practitioners from the field of human rights, conflict prevention, atrocity prevention and other related agendas. These conversations aim to provide a glimpse of the personal and professional side of how practitioners approach human rights protection and atrocity prevention. We hope to explore challenges, identify best practices and share lessons learned on how we can protect populations more effectively.
