I uploaded the first hour of the opening set I played for @voxnoxberlin earlier this year. The recording starts with some ambient because this was the time the club actually opened and as soon as there were people on the dance floor I brought in some beat. To be honest, it was not the easiest job for me to maintain a more laid-back pace yet an interesting tension throughout the whole set, in the genre of harder techno the temptation is far too big to just shoot out one banger after the other. But still, the job of the opening DJ is to open the night and to leave space for things yet to come, it made me realize how much fun that can be as well. Somehow it means to limit yourself, yet there are suddenly much more possibilities to experiment! You can explore more deeper sides of your genre, let everything flow into each other way longer, weave a dense web of textures, play with dynamics in different ways than just up, up, up. This set was a really interesting experience for me, where I felt i was growing as a DJ, so I decided to share that with you. Sadly, the battery of my recording device died at some point, so the rest of the 3-hour long set will only continue to exist in memory. Cheers!

TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ SILENT G

Over the past years, Silent G has managed to establish himself in Berlin’s electronic music scene. As a DJ, he is a regular behind some of the city’s most renowned decks. And with gigs in Vienna and Mongolia, his music has also taken him abroad.
In the booth, his main goal is to find the right connection to the dance floor. Depending on the vibe, his sets range from dubby Techno to old school Tribal cuts, funky Hardgroove or driving Techno tools. But he also feels comfortable in more break-heavy spheres, such as Drum’n’Bass and Jungle.
Besides DJing, his activities in the local scene include running the event series ZEMENT, and curating the Drum’n’Bass and Jungle night STALACTITES at Paloma. Silent G is also part of the Interphase crew, hosting notorious genre-bending off-location parties.
As a producer, he has track releases on the Irish label Space Records and on Nonchalance Music. Another one is scheduled for January 2025 on the Toronto-based imprint Oneiros Records.

Born and raised in Malta, Muski immediately developed a love for electronic music when he was exposed to the local underground techno scene around 2014.

Since then, Muski has worked on increasing his knowledge of Techno, and with that came his first gigs. Over the past years, he developed his own sound, made up of hypnotic drive and fast-paced rhythms, along with impeccable track selections. Back in 2015, he co-founded the Xpose organisation, together with his close friends – bringing down and playing alongside artists like Newa, Amotik, Cj Bolland, Exium & more.

In 2018 Xpose joined forces with Solid Tracks Records to start 2 new projects, In.di.go and waX. Muski has been one of the main contributors to both these promotions which have now become key events within the local scene and booked artists such as ANNĒ, VIL & Cravo, Tafkamp, Beau Didier, Alarico, Chontane, Olivia Mendez & more.

Zum allerersten Mal hatte ich die Ehre, ein Opening-Set bei der legendären Gegen im KitKat Club zu spielen – und es war eine ganz besondere Erfahrung.

Sonst meist in der Closing-Rolle unterwegs, war es eine willkommene Herausforderung und gleichzeitig eine riesige Freude, den Raum langsam aufbauen zu dürfen – ganze vier Stunden, in denen ich mein Klangspektrum frei entfalten konnte.

Ich habe eine Atmosphäre geschaffen, die sich Stück für Stück entfaltet hat:
Von leichtem, verspieltem Minimal Techno, über groovige Rhythmen mit vielen Vocals, bis hin zu dunkleren, hypnotischen Sounds, die den Dancefloor schließlich zum Kochen gebracht haben.

Ein musikalischer Spannungsbogen, der Raum ließ zum Ankommen, zum Fallenlassen – und dann zum völligen Ausrasten.

Ich bin dankbar für diesen besonderen Moment und möchte euch mitnehmen auf diese Reise. Viel Spaß beim Eintauchen. 💫🖤

- Para resumirlo: sonidos electrónicos experimentales. Me encanta el techno, en muchas de sus formas, sobre todo el más hipnótico e introspectivo, pero también me gustan muchas otras cosas; siento una afinidad particular por exploraciones electrónicas latinoamericanas; son afirmaciones valiosísimas del sur en un contexto electrónico tan eurocentrista.  Creo que ser DJ es por lo menos una oportunidad para romper barreras entre géneros musicales, fronteras territoriales y de clase.
