brainwave research center - the NYC Electronic music duo of Chase Smith (W.T. Records, Apartment, Is/Was), & documentary filmmaker, Christa Majoras (School of Visual Arts) - returns with their 2nd LP, Mosaic. 
Mosaic combines together analog synths with electro-acoustic experiments, vast soundscapes with intricate textures, and naive rhythms with pop melodies. 
Following their debut in early 2023, brainwave research center continues their journey and experimentation in Electronic music while paying homage to their musical influences. Hints of Edgar Froese, Martin Rev, Ennio Morricone, John Carpenter, and early Kraftwerk can be heard. 

Recorded and produced in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in the back of Smith’s synthesizer/electronic repair shop.

The Korean Frequency
The final release of 2023 from WotD on Chris Coco’s ever popular DSPPR takes us right back to November 2022 when the band and Chris decided it would be better to do an album than a few EPs, so for the first time since leaving Coventry and returning home to Ireland back in 2011 Jonny decide that after nine years of working online on the WotD project that it would benefit the band if he hooked up with fellow Warrior Sean for a weekend session in the same studio. So he was sent to Coventry in a round about way, and from that we have The Korean Frequency with its rising pad swells and a tight drum loop which was added by new boy Kevin ahead of the horns, live bass, the magic of an untamed Juno arpeggiator and a healthy dose of cosmic sprinkles. These were added when Jonny went to Florida in March to hook up for a week with the American chapter of WotD, Mike & Nick.
The track title comes from an old club night (Frequency) which Jonny ran across the Midlands from 98/06 which Sean was a resident at, and during that studio session they ordered in from the local Korean restaurant. Simple really. 

Hashish Dreams Ft Deep Division 
Jonny’s good friend Stevie Overend and WotD had been toying with the idea of a collaboration for some time and it presented itself when they started laying ideas down for the album. Stevie sent some ideas over from a live jam he’d been working on and Jonny stripped it out and rearranged it before again taking it to Florida where it, like everything else, got the funked up cosmic Jazz treatment from Mike & Nick.

Session Victim’s 5th studio album ‘low key, low pressure’ feels like an anathema to today’s fast paced, industry driven musical landscape – and for all the right reasons. Having released two intense, dancefloor-focused 12“s on Rhythm Section and Delusions of Grandeur over the past year, their return to Night Time Stories brings out their trippy, headsy side once again. And despite the pandemic downtime being over, Hauke & Matthias remain holed up in the studio, jamming, head nodding to drum breaks, and churning out records like the one in front of you. 
Spanning 10 tunes – 12 if you count the limited bonus 7“ that comes with the first pressing – the LP is undiluted Session Victim, with their occasional trio partner Carsten ‘Erobique’ Meyer as the sole musical guest on the library-esque ‘Soft Landing’, a tune reminiscent of something the boys would try to hunt down on one of their compulsive record store rummages to feed it to their Akai’s.  You’ll also find the sequel to one of their cornerstone tracks from their 2020 album Needledrop, Jazzbeat 07 -  ‘Jazzbeat 08’. Having acquired a taste for the occasional cover version over the years, the duo closes the album out with their rendition of Instra:mental’s ‘Photograph’. Tackling such a classic is a daunting task which they approach in a gentle way, not swaying too far from the original, but subtly reimagining the rhythmical foundation and exchanging the distinctive playground sounds from the OG with field recordings of the locals who populate the gritty area around their Neukölln studio. 
Being longtime fans of Swedish organ player Bo Hansson, Hauke and Matthias tried to reach out to the people responsible for his cover artwork - who today are in their late eighties and have not answered ever since! But things came together in the most fortunate way when introduced to French artist Xavier d’espinay Saint Luc and his enchanting pencil wizardry. The outstanding result is the cover art that you see here. 
This is ‘low key, low pressure’. It’s got pristine drum chops to zoom in, hazy melodies to zone out, and all the texture you need to lose yourself in the details.

Since emerging in the scene, Rambal Cochet has ably demonstrated his instinct for different approaches, whether exploring expansive sonic palettes or holding down stages where he has performed. Dolphin's Dance is an uplifting music journey with a flavour of the good old prog sound and a dreamy atmosphere. Volantis & Nicodemo elaborated on the title track stylishly and thoughtfully. The narrative flow in Twisted Reality and Virtual Nightmare uses contrasting ecosystems to glide through distinctive spaces, unfolding with darker vibes infused with style sounds, as in Yello's 90's album "Pocket Universe". The effect is sometimes nostalgic, calling to mind pulsating rhythms, bass lines and hypnotic melodies.

Clandestino have been involved in Leeds' underground music scene for over 20 years; regularly throwing diverse parties and inviting exciting DJ talent. Their esoteric style of dance music has gained them gigs at some of Europe’s premier club spots such as Renate in Berlin, Stalingrad in Paris, Geneva’s La Graviere and Powerhouse in Moscow in addition to being regular fixtures on the discerning festival circuit.
