oh man haven't heard this tune in forever!

Super FU are back with the first single from their forthcoming long player 'Physical Sounds', featuring some heavyweight remixes to get things moving.
 
The original is a perfect blend of disco, funk, pop, and acid house. Rock-solid beats, analogue bass, searing strings, and all kinds of synth action blend seamlessly with live instrumentation. Paul Withy and Sarah Lazenby trade melodies as the chorus swoops for a mid-tempo end-of-nighter.

The Dub strips out the pop and instrumentation but ups the psychedelics. Deep, trippy and electronic, it takes a hypnotic journey into a world of dub and balearica.

Next up, Craig Bratley brings the pianos front and centre, working the riff that comes off like Marshall Jefferson on downers. The vocals repeat as the track builds to chug and weave to the acid; cue smoke, strobe and dancefloor mayhem.
   
Finally, Leo Zero dubs the disco and rolls with the funk. Once again, the song shows it's strength is as it blends with the piano for nu-disco heaven!

Acid disco chuggers Rule Six return with two cosmic cuts, accompanied by stellar remixes. Thoroughly road-tested by Sean Johnston at ALFOS and picking up early support from tastemakers including Radio Slave, Justin Robertson, Sasha, Richard Sen, Trevor Fung, Erol Alkan, Ame, Logan Fisher and Pete Herbert.

Lead track East Side Groove takes a 1970s punk-funk bassline and transports it into 2024, with swirling stabs and transcendent, headrush-inducing synth lines combining to create peak dancefloor moments.

tici taci label boss Duncan Gray strips things back with DG's ESG Mix, transporting us back to CBGB's heyday with live instrument interpretations of the original's synth lines. Citizens of Vice and Solar Phenomena regular Gus Paterson opts for a cosmic Metro Area-esque vibe with his Downtown Fashion Mix.

DC Promo Tracks: Eddie C / LJ Simon "U Be Mine" (Lex (Athens) Plaka Remix)

Meet Leng’s latest signings, Liminal – a Danish duo comprised of guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and producer David Rosenkilde, and DJ, producer and sound engineer Morten Troest. 

The pair first met when Rosenkilde was booked to perform as a session musician at Troest studio. They clicked immediately so with Troest’s studio skills and inherent knowledge of what works on dancefloors paired with Rosenkilde’s abilities as a musician they decided to produce their own music together working to one simple rule: try out every idea, however outlandish!

Since then, Rosenkilde and Troest have been recording their debut album that’s set for release on Leng later in 2025. First, though, we get a taste of their talents via ‘Keep Coming Back To Me’, an impressive debut single that blends electric and electronic instrumentation while keeping its focus fixed on the dancefloor.

Ushered in by shakers, rubbery bass and flanged guitar licks, ‘Keep Coming Back To Me’ blurs the boundaries between colourful nu-disco, low-slung dub disco and the sun-splashed beauty of the more club-friendly end of the Balearic spectrum. It boasts a hazy, multi-tracked and lightly glassy-eyed lead vocal, as well as a nagging TB-303 acid line that works its way to the fore as the track progresses, adding extra layers of excitement and energy as it unfolds.

Remixer Ray Mang (AKA long-time friend of the label Raj Gupta) takes the latter element as his inspiration on a stunning, nine-minute plus remix that brilliantly re-frames the track as a blend of tactile 21st century nu-disco colour, hypnotic proto-house and analogue-rich, acid-fired Chicago jack. Re-playing the bassline in an early Chicago house style and reaching for lo-fi and spacey synth sounds, the veteran British producer frequently strips the track back to the groove before re-introducing the vocal and the dreamiest of chords.

Liminal also display their sonic diversity on bonus cut ‘The Moon Is Changing’, a wonderfully atmospheric and star-lit affair in which spacey ambient chords, twinkling electric piano keys and intergalactic electronics slowly usher in a mid-tempo Norse nu-disco groove. The pair build slowly, adding vocals and layered guitar licks. The results are hard to pigeonhole but thoroughly impressive, offering a tantalising glimpse of what’s to come on their must-check debut album.

It's always nice when folks get in touch with us to share music and it's even better when the music turns out to be great, as is the case when SHMLSS sent us this mix. Bart van Manen & Michiel Lancee are the vinyl loving duo behind it; steadily plying their trade in Utrecht and Amsterdam, curating their own vision of underground, electronic music which has glorious shades of disco through to Detroit influences. Their mix is a heady journey though Afro, Balearica, retro soaked house numbers & strung out emotive tech cuts which seriously left us wanting more. Look out for their forthcoming new label XXX which promises a first release from Clandestino favourire Jack Pattern

Clandestino have been involved in Leeds' underground music scene for over 20 years; regularly throwing diverse parties and inviting exciting DJ talent. Their esoteric style of dance music has gained them gigs at some of Europe’s premier club spots such as Renate in Berlin, Stalingrad in Paris, Geneva’s La Graviere and Powerhouse in Moscow in addition to being regular fixtures on the discerning festival circuit.
