The noise reverberated in the old empty room – it sent shivers down his spine as he recalled the last time that he was here. There was someone missing this time, it did not feel quite the same.

A remix of a classic is always risky business. Get it right, you too can become a hero. Get it wrong and well, that’s just bad news.

F.T.G & Myndrill have taken on the monstrous task of remixing the Joy Division classic ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’. They have done so with remarkable taste and in turn have created a club ready version which does seem to pay true homage to the poignancy and beauty of the original.

@Meant Records welcome accomplished Parisian producer @Tim-Paris for an EP that features two standout originals and two brilliant remixes from Cosmo Vitelli and SONNS.

Over a glittering career, Paris has of course collaborated with Ivan Smagghe, run his own Marketing Music label and turned out a diverse album, ‘Dancers’, for My Favorite Robot. From jacking electro to rugged new wave via freaky house, he has a fully formed palette that is distinguishable by his raw sense of groove and texture.

‘Version B’, features Sex Judas and has a metallic and melodic bassline that runs round the scales in off kilter fashion. Sci-fi pads and bright stabs all add colour to this dystopian disco track as it bumps along and sweeps you up.

Remixer @SONNS has a seriously accomplished discography on labels like Kompakt and ESP Institute. He flips the track into a loose, flabby chugger with tons of reverb on the guitar lines and spooky synths that wither and wilt. It’s tough disco of the sort that Andrew Weatherall and Ivan Smagghe will love.

DJ Rocca returns to Roam Recordings with two new originals backed by an all star set of remixers. The title track Slide to Unlock is a sleek tune that builds a swirling arpeggio under a beautiful electronic melody. In contrast, Uros is a huge gritty track with attitude.

Up first on remix support is the legendary I:Cube who takes Uros into hypnotic ethereal territory in a perfectly woven masterpiece. Rounding out the EP is another legend, The Emperor Machine, who twists Slide to Unlock into a beautiful electronic disco version full of bounce and analog goodness.

Clandestino have been involved in Leeds' underground music scene for over 20 years; regularly throwing diverse parties and inviting exciting DJ talent. Their esoteric style of dance music has gained them gigs at some of Europe’s premier club spots such as Renate in Berlin, Stalingrad in Paris, Geneva’s La Graviere and Powerhouse in Moscow in addition to being regular fixtures on the discerning festival circuit.
