It was etched into the old stone, a framework for the perfect self. At least so that they had thought way back then, at the beginning. The sketches must have been there for thousands of years, all that was left of a people and a time very different to their own.

They were deep underground, it had taken several weeks to excavate this far and the strain and toll it had taken on their physical wellbeing was severe.

Now, as they looked at the magnificent old etchings and drawings. They realised that some sort of lifetime ago, there were people building a bodymap, the very core of what they would become in the now.

Mark E is perhaps one of the most underrated producers out there. For many years he has released a steady stream of music which has consistently made its way in to the bags and sets of a broad variety of DJ's. His versatility is unique, his music able to sit at home amidst a variety of contexts and settings.

This latest EP on Delusions of Grandeur is a brilliant showcase of his penchant for deep, progressive House music.

'It’s not often that a record has a powerful political message and also works on the dancefloor, but Sol Power All-Stars' "We Push On" EP on Soul Clap Records does that work. Following an acclaimed remix of Underground System earlier this summer, The Washington DC based afro/latin/house super-group drop their first original music on the label, a 12” of summer slappers to move your spirit and your butt, complete with a powerful remix from Kaytronik (aka fellow DC/Baltimore area native Karizma).

The EP features two original vocal compositions and two dub versions aimed directly at the dancefloor. First up Take Heed features the powerful vocals of Denise Henderson over an acid-infused afro house beat, and takes it to the top with an uplifting organ solo. Kaytronik’s Heed’N Dub loops the stabs and vocal into a tense, building workout for the dancers in the circle. The flip smooths out the beats, but keeps the message front and center with the vocals of Lenny Kurlou on It Ain’t Right. The horns and percussion lead on the original, while the Dubbed In DC Mix goes deep with the bassline and vocal loops.'

The Sol Power All-Stars provide a rather large injection of afro/latin house music into the heart of a pulsing dance floor with this release on Soul Clap Records. 
4 tracks of vocal and dub versions aimed straight at peaks time dancers in full flow. We take a look at the first track on the EP. ‘Take Head’ is a cracking piece of dance floor magic which pretty much has everything you could wish for in its 7 minutes and 58 seconds. 
Out standing vocals provided by Denise Henderson, who has a similar flow to her vocals reminiscent of Michael Watford on Hard Times. Afro drum patterns clatter against one another with an Acid line that enjoyably nags at you through out the track. 
Just as you think the track can’t build anymore, an organ solo hits you from nowhere.  Harking back to many a solo heard in a CJ Mackintosh set from the mid 90’s lifting you spiritually.
On a  serious note, amongst all this enjoyment.. is a worthy political message against the wave of social injustice that is wide spread in America today. It’s a call to arms.

Clandestino have been involved in Leeds' underground music scene for over 20 years; regularly throwing diverse parties and inviting exciting DJ talent. Their esoteric style of dance music has gained them gigs at some of Europe’s premier club spots such as Renate in Berlin, Stalingrad in Paris, Geneva’s La Graviere and Powerhouse in Moscow in addition to being regular fixtures on the discerning festival circuit.
