The Oslo based artist Third Attempt is building his fan base and his reputation for putting out high quality and extremely well produced beats.  With two singles already out of the gate already, the mothership is here in the shape of - ‘Beats From The Quarantine’. This talented artist takes us on a trip-hop journey of eleven tracks of low slung beats and reframed disco blends. All designed with the forward thinking hip-hop head in mind.

Opener 'Addicted' gets the ball rolling in a soothing fashion with some slap-heavy bounce that'll get your hips swaying and feet shuffling. The sample-heavy 'Front To The Back' serves up a crisp mix of hip-hop drums, fluttering melodies and nu-age-friendly vibes. The heavily dubbed jazz affair 'Make It Double', is an intricate mixture of brass-laden jamming, wistful piano chords and smoky funk bass, all resounding across a dense haze of FX and subtle textural arrangements that grow deeper as bars pass by.  Drifting towards more ethereal and soulful heights, 'Missing Feeling' teleports you to poetic jazz dreamlands, fusing solid bass with mischievous woodblocks and otherworldly chimes.  Laid back trip-hop and vibraphonic downtempo chugger 'Please Hold', quietly rides on to greener pastures, whilst 'Rain' musters up a breezy package of sonar bloops, disco shades and dusky atmospherics. Little bit of MJ Cole here maybe? Upping the tempo, 'Images' keeps the feels pouring but tweaks the whole into a hectic acid-drenched second half.  'Mirage' is a deep mystic trip of hypnotic webs and sitar-imbued harmonics. 'Air' eases us to moody Balearic jazz territory with languid trumpets and polychromatic pads, paying tribute to José Padilla’s touch. One to drift off to is closing cut 'Cocoon' which wraps you in warm layers of piano and synth, fitting somewhere between the Aphex Twin's Drukqs-ian excursions and more Ibizan sun kissed magic.

You know how it goes at the after party, over indulge and you end up hogging the conversation. So, in the interest of better dancefloor discourse allow us to present Drum Chums, a new series of edits by percussion pals from across the globe.

This inaugural edition comes from our good buddy Basso, a Hamburg homie whose digging expertise is rivalled only by his scalpel skills and superb silliness. Dipping into the darkest corners of his ever-Growing Bins, Bussi shines up a quartet of rediscovered delights for an edit EP which oozes grooves and off balance moves.

On an uptempo A-side, the German luxuriates in the spectral arps, glistening licks and uplifting chords of fusion boogie winner 'Do Stay For Breakfast' before serving the steamy, sultry and seductive vampire disco jam 'Soft Choppers'. 

Things take a turn for the Balearic on the B-side thanks to the Afro-tropical pop of 'Simple Stroll', all electroid bass, chugging percussion and playful guitar, and finally the cosmic cool of 'Breaking Bread', a spaced out bossa for heads and feet.

Since emerging on Golf Channel Recordings a decade ago, Payfone has built up a strong catalogue of singles that effortlessly blur the boundaries between slow-motion electronic disco, seductive songs and sun-splashed Balearic beats. While the project has appeared on a number of different labels, some of the best material – including the superb ‘Last Night In Sant Celoni’ and atmospheric ‘Sofian’ – has appeared on Leng.
 
‘I Feel You’, Payfone’s first outing on the long-serving label for two years, is another high-class mid-tempo offering tailor-made for loved-up dancefloors and intoxicated, sofa-bound listening sessions. Produced by Phil Passera and Jimmy Day in collaboration with Dominican Republic-born lyricist and vocalist Kyd Nereida, who also appears on the cover artwork, the song is a typically atmospheric, mid-tempo treat marked out by immersive chords, squelchy synth-bass, eyes-closed jazz guitar motifs (courtesy of guests J Felix and Royce Wood Jr.) and smoky sax (provided by Jordi Blanch). Add some bonus percussion hits and Nereida’s sassy lead vocal, and you have another superb, stirring and spine-tingling treat.
 
The accompanying remixes come from label co-founder Paul Murphy under his now familiar Mudd alias, marking the first time that he’s provided reworks for the imprint since 2015. His vocal and instrumental wrap Passera and Day’s original mix in layers of tactile, evocative musical goodness for a heady and intoxicating atmospheric excursion. 
 
Opting for a warming, soul-enriching vibe, Murphy adds slowly shifting synth sounds, flanged guitars, sun-soaked chords, simmering synth-strings and spacey electronics. By the time guest keyboardist Michele Chiavarini’s solos make their way into the sound space to – taking things up a notch emotionally in the process – you’ll be lost in Murphy and Payfone’s loved-up aural world. As remixes go, they’re as stunning as Payfone’s superb original mix.

Clandestino have been involved in Leeds' underground music scene for over 20 years; regularly throwing diverse parties and inviting exciting DJ talent. Their esoteric style of dance music has gained them gigs at some of Europe’s premier club spots such as Renate in Berlin, Stalingrad in Paris, Geneva’s La Graviere and Powerhouse in Moscow in addition to being regular fixtures on the discerning festival circuit. Their monthly show on KMAH Radio is deemed essential and their podcast series is revered world wide for showcasing regular mixes from high caliber and lesser known DJ's.
