Steven Wilson - The Watchmaker

Following on from the inaugural Crossing Wires compilation by Toronto trio My Favorite Robot, next to mix it up for the exciting series is global electronic music icon Timo Maas. Still riding high off the success of his latest and greatest full length relaese, Lifer, back in 2013 (which blended trip hop with ambient, sleazy house with wonky techno and included collaborations with the likes of Placebo’s Brian Molko and Brighton chanteuse Katie Cruel as well as James Lavelle, founder of seminal ‘90s label Mo Wax) Timo has long been a pioneer in his field. Of course, he also runs his own influential label, Rockets & Ponies, and the German producer has also appeared on the MFR label before with standout track ‘Dancing For My Pleasure’ from the first Crossing Wires. Timo is also a revered DJ and in 2013 celebrated 10 years as resident at one of underground house and techno’s most mythologised clubs: Circo Loco at DC10 out in Ibiza. As such, this new Crossing Wires
compilation draws on his skills as both selector and sequencer and proves few can do it better than this long-standing talent. The mix features 14 brand new and exclusive tracks from a range of artists old and new – some are closely associated with MFR, some less so, but together they paint a perfect picture of the state of modern electronic music. Man of the moment Eric Volta kicks things off with the serene synth stylings of ‘Dreams Don`t Turn to
Dust’, a suitably lush affair that sets a soothing tone. From there we soon drop into a compelling groove courtesy of My Favorite Robot’s ‘Dead of the Dance’ and Timo masterfully balances the tempo through his ensuing selections. Never does he get stuck in one place for too long, instead coherently going from spaced out sci-fi house (Discern & Signal Flow’s ‘Coarse Language’) to tripped-out tech (Tim Green’s ‘Plenty of Spiders’) and kinetic and synthetic sounds (Martin Buttrich’s ‘Bubble Heat’) with ease. Timo’s own productions appear twice, first in the form of the growling, shadowy ‘Watching The Robots’ then in collaboration with long time partner Santos on ‘Z Panorama’. Tracks and remixes from Chris Carrier, Villanova and Daniel Stefanik then make up the latter half of the mix in which energy levels are kept up and heady, futuristic imagery is never far away. This is a compelling mix that showcases both the modern sound of house and techno whilst proving that Timo Mass has an understanding of dancefloor dynamics that few could ever question.

From Germany the mighty Ron Flatter joins the Motek family with his EP 'Youmai / No2'. Steeped in groove and drive ‘Youmai' is a perfect peak time floor thriller. Warm pad pulses and bass pushes weave their way across the arrangement whilst a strong synth lead and high flourishing effects dance around, creating strong and unexpected focal points. ‘No2’ is a raw sounding, full on piece of dance music. Live percussive textures add serious depth to the production adding to the driving, gritty bass pad and relentless hi-hat patterns. Remixing this release we welcome back the fantastic Namito & Stevie R, and from Copenhagen rising stars Leman & Dieckmann. Namito & Stevie R have brought their style to ‘Youmai’, adding a darkness and relentless feel to the track. Constant builds in arrangement drive the track on, all based around the constant vocal loop. The remix is finished with trippy lead synths elaborating and rising on top of the core track foundation. Leman & Dieckmann have given their take to ‘No2’. A spacious, reverb filled track that carries serious weight. The duo have made their version slower in feel than the other tracks on this release with subtle groove interplay between the percussion and synth parts, drawing you into their musical vision.

The Hemmann lasagna is ready! With a healthy dose of ground beef and sun-ripened tomatoes between the sauce and layers of pasta with a peppy salad.
    Once again Marek has two tracks with which he arms the planet richly, but also where the cooking spoon just explodes in the kitchen. The writer has quite a steam building upÖbut this music is just so filling, that the stomach just knows that there was a hole there.
    To prepare for this first album from the Hemmann kitchen, two long sides strike a tone with a powerful punch, breathless grooves with a long puff and an empire of sounds for the endorphin thrust within and without the headphones. This isnít a construction, but rather a composition.
    Exquisitely vibrating grooves with a hopping deepness, percussive elements together with a melodic party radiating in a finely sensed positivity. Itís as if you could together with Inessa and Gemini mutate into a bouncing ball. When his tracks begin to spin, that which happens to the listeners is the stuff dreams are made of.

Flight Facilities have a brand new single called 'With You', this time featuring the vocal work of Hot Chip drummer Grovesnor – something darker, something deeper and something more mature.

The duo from Sydney bought you 2010’s pop hit ‘Crave You feat. Giselle’ which has netted over 5 million plays on Youtube to date, appeared in cult shows such as How to Make It In America, hit the top 20 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 and even impressed Perez Hilton. In 2011 they released the 70’s disco throw back 'Foreign Language feat. Jess’, once again it cracked Triple J’s Hottest 100, topped Australia’s Independent Music Charts, was loved by The Cool Hunter and turned out to be the song Leonardo DiCaprio requests when he’s out clubbing! Danny Daze is the man behind the HUUUGE Hot Creation anthem ‘Your Everything’ and has gone crazy with his glitched out Aphex Twin-esk 5AM mix while UK duo MAM (Matt Hughes and Miguel Campbell) bring it back with a chunky bass and Rhodes summer anthem.

THE STORY
EX NIHILO (Latin. Out Of Nothing) Is the first thematic album of Oceanvs Orientalis; which tells 10 different stories of 10 breaking points of the Universal history. From the Planetary scale to the Human dimension. 
The story begins with the song of the Big Bang (EX NIHILO)and continues with focusing on the first formation of the Solar System (Birth of the Sun),
The Earth (THE EARTH SONG) and the story of Homo Sapiens (AQUATIC APE) and so on.
 
THE ALBUM
The album contains 10 original tracks. 
Recording of the album took 1 year of field recording and experimental audio synthesis. Each song of the album created for a specific dedicated event.

THE FILM
The Film created by 10 different artists under the creative direction of Elif Demirci aka Datafobik. In the first step each artist imagine and create each video separately then each other.

Afterwards it combined as one individual audio reacted visual experience.
Also for the 4th music video the song called “Plankton Planet”, we collaborate with the Plankton Chronicles: An art and science project based in Montreal, Canada. The video made by 3 minutes of unseen plankton footage recorded by Plankton

Chronicles.
