James Stephen is a blues-infused-Americana artist with an unashamed passion for his northern hometown of Stockport. James’ music proves he isn’t afraid to incorporate other genres into his work, making his take on Americana a refreshingly liberal one.

After seeping into the open mic scene at the age of 15, James has steadily asserted himself amongst the stalwarts of unsigned Manchester. Captivating audiences with his powerful, gritty vocals and effortless delivery, James has also become a Sofar Sounds regular, playing shows across Europe and becoming a favourite on their global playlists.

Following the successful release of his debut effort, Patchwork EP, James released the eagerly anticipated follow-up EP 'Til It Comes Around Again..., released in December 2020. Smashing through the expectations set by his debut effort, ‘Til It Comes Around Again… has achieved a collective 100,000 streams through completely DIY promotion, including airplay on award-winning radio shows. Americana Music Radio Show and Roots Collective on Wycombe Sound amongst others.

About a boy…

Darkbloom (in real life Noam David Wright) is a singer-songwriter from Manchester, UK, with more than a few tales to tell. Raised in some of the roughest parts of city, as a teenager he narrowly escaped a lot of hot water. 

Channeling a heart full of anger, in 1997 he formed the infamous, and short-lived, punk band Breather, who released just one vinyl-only single (financed by Manic Street Preachers' management) before imploding in spectacular fashion.

In his early 20’s, and in a right old mess, he'd had it with songwriting and took off abroad, over the next 10 years living and working in eight countries - Australia, New Zealand, Kenya, Poland, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Israel - where he did everything from getting arrested for bar fighting in Nairobi to becoming a voice-over actor for Italian cinema commercials to nursing acute dementia sufferers in rural New Zealand.

After this all this, on returning to his home country, there was only one thing to do; become Jewish. 

His rich and multi-faceted songwriting has been praised by fellow musical greats such as Tom Robinson (TRB), John Bramwell (I am Kloot) and Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets), as well as the late (Mr Manchester himself) Tony Wilson (Factory Records).

He has released two EP's, his debut release in 2013 reached Number 8 in the iTunes charts. His latest EP was released in September 2014 supported by a two week UK Tour. James released his debut album "A Light For The Fires" in June 2015 which was supported by festivals and headline shows in London. James and his band will be playing extensively throughout 2015."
