This is DESTINY'S DOOR REPRISE, my submission to Hans Zimmer's "Bleeding Fingers Contest".
I used the solo voice stem in the second half and the last line of the trumpet stem.
Everything else I wrote and played myself (WAV48/24).

Michael Harris - Moments

So this piece was written probably back in April or so for my wonderfully brilliant high school choir director, Darcy Reese, and her choir production that she pours all her heart and soul into. So she asked me to write a few songs for the production and this was one of my favorites that I wrote for her. 

I don't really recollect how long it took me to write this, probably a week? Maybe less than that? I'm not entirely sure, but the final product introduces a voice-over talking about the preciousness of the world and about us...if memory serves me right. Anyway, it was just extremely beautiful. 

This piece I started using synth pads from the Kontakt library to emulate that ambient vibe found in a lot of Tony Anderson's work. In addition to that I love the use of the 8dio 1928 Legacy Steinway grand piano. It just has this exquisite quality to the sound. And then of course I used the cello patch from EWQL Symphonic Gold and the african choirs from Logic Pro X for the choir segment. Anyway, enjoy.

Solitude

Michael Harris - Solitude

So  recently posted up on my facebook the song from the Dead Island trailer. Anyway, so the original song by Giles Lamb is already beautiful enough, so I decided to take the chance to make it a lil' more uplifting and um.......I dunno what other word could describe it....just happier. Anyway, the trailer itself is beautiful. So this piece took me only last night and today. I wanted to stick to the original beginning but then afterwards take it into a J Scott Rakozy kind of direction. Thus it was super awesome and I knew this was exactly how I wanted the piece to go with the triumphant horns, the banging of the drums, the sense of being sent free, liberated and what not. So another influence with this piece was actually from Danny Elfman's work off "Real Steel" the very ending after the major box fight, so the use of the drums with orchestration was what made it into this piece. So using EWQL Symphonic Gold and Storm Drum 2 this is what you can create. The piano was the only thing from the Logic Pro library and also the guitar.
