A deep dive into the early releases on the Back 2 Basics sub label that ran from 1994 to 2000, releasing music from Ascend, Ultravibe, Technical Itch, JB and more. At first glance the label could be considered 90s record box filler but I love how the label could hop from atmospheric jungle to vocals to big wobbly basslines and amens to hip hop jump up and darkness. Production House History Mix Pt II

A mix I've been meaning to do for YEARS! 

My tribute to (I think) the 2nd rave I ever went to back in 1998, as a 16 year old white kid I was absolutely terrified being inside Starlight 2001 in Leicester with all the shady characters, guns, drugs and people getting robbed but the music was amazing. The DJs always played a bit harder and the resident MCs always went in with their lyrics too; legends like Hyper D, Trigga, Bassman and Spyda would control the crowd whilst DJs like Randall, Sappo, APB & DJ SS rolled out the beats. There was no rave like Hysteria, moody, dark and the best tunes.

Here's my 2 hour tribute to the music played at Hysteria, I have dug a bit deeper than usual and picked a selection of tunes across the 97-00 period with a few different styles repped! I hope you enjoy...HEAVY LIKE A WAH!

Set up by JB aka Jason Ball in 1993, the label would run to 2008 with nearly 100 vinyl releases and more albums, mix CDs etc. Being a midlands lad myself I have grown up with this label and bought everything I could 96 onwards. 

The label released music from JB, Spice, Dred Bass, Twisted Individual, Decoder, Ascend, Ned Ryder and loads more and was a really important part of my teenage years as a DJ and raver! Enjoy this look into their 94/95 releases...
