On Saturday 1st February Groove Odyssey will return to the world famous Pacha Night Club London with another night of ‘House Legends’ - Saturday night style!
Returning with his second bout of House Legends magic, is Baltimore’s Dj Spen from Quantize records, with a guaranteed dose of dance floor mayhem. With full support from London’s very own Neil Pierce making his debut appearance for Groove Odyssey, along side the pioneers of true soulful house in the UK - Bobby & Steve.

I always find the first jam with new tunes can bring out some cool mixes as they are still so fresh and unknown- this time I hit record....
Been immersed in classic Chi Town & Motor City house so this is pretty chugging start to finish- lotsa 808's, 909's and even a 303... if the start is too hard skip through to 33mins as the other half is a lot different...
All live as you can hear- no sync button was used in the making of this recording.

Lana Del Rey - Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix)

This is my take on one of my favorite songs by Candi Staton.  I flexed it with Logic to keep it nice and steady and extended the intro to 32 bars.  I kept most of the original verses and choruses together, but moved more quickly from the all-the-way-to-drums breakdown to the keyboard outro.

One thing that made this one tough to mix in and out of my sets was the fact that the riff moves in 6s (rather than 4s like many other disco tunes.)  I 'solved' that little dilemma by reworking the keyboard solo at the end to move in 4-bar groups.  Finally, I faded the instrumentation into the drum and bongo intro for a nice outro (from the beginning of the keyboard solo there are 48 bars left in the track.)  I hope you enjoy it playing it as much as I enjoyed making it!

After a successful album launch party at Ministry of Sound, Groove Odyssey continues to fly the flag by proudly presenting "House Legends" at the renowned London night club Pacha, on Bank Holiday Sunday 26th May.

We are proud to welcome for the very first time Dj Spen from Quantize records and Ralf Gum from GoGo music. These two artists are true House legends who, over the years, have contributed so much to the House scene and have amazing track records. Also flying in live on stage is the inspirational soulful voice of Monique Bingham, performing some of her hits including "Kissing Strangers", "Take Me To My Love" and "We Had a Thing". Joining her, is our very own Sabrina Chyld, who will be performing "Moving On" taken from the "Groove Odyssey Sessions Vol1" album.

Well......being as though I've found another 4000 tunes on my hardrive that I've never played I thought it only fit and proper to drop another mix :)

Anyway I've got some nice pumping vocal house this time around I'd probs drop these sort of tunes if I was doing a set down at the Harmony Network in Alabama.

I don't know what it is about playing in the heart of Birmingham and dropping this sort of House but it's awesome and always goes down well.....2 more months and I'll be back, woo! Hoo!
