Italian tech house stalwarts NiCe7 make their long-awaited return to DFTD with ‘Bad Advice’, a two-track release showcasing their dancefloor-bending style at its finest. With their 2014 DFTD smash ‘Time To Get Physical’ coming as one of the biggest club records of a seminal era in house, now ‘Bad Advice’ sees the duo deliver another future heater with all the promise of their last output on the imprint. Leeds-based talent Morgan Cole makes his debut on Patrick Topping’s Trick with ‘Ready For Love’, a modernist rave two-tracker featuring a lively house cut backed by a techno bomb. A label continuing to discover and push new and emerging talent from across the scene, late-October sees Patrick Topping’s Trick imprint recruit Morgan Cole for his first release under his own name. Previously known as Noizy Devil, Cole has spent the last few years honing his craft within the studio, capturing the ears of leading names including Eli Brown, Richy Ahmed, PAWSA, and of course, Patrick Topping along the way. Brash, energetic, and pacey, ‘Ready For Love’ opens the release with a firm display of early 90’s hardcore tropes welded to modern house aesthetics. Looping hands-in-the-air piano riffs, cleverly pitched vocal refrains, and searing siren-synths atop robust stripped-back beats, Cole delivers an infectious dancefloor rouser. ‘I Can’t Stop’, driven by raw sawtooth bass, sees Cole make crafty use of another addictive vocal sample, nudging the Rave’O’Meter up to eleven. With an arsenal of highly effective synth flourishes, it acts as the perfect companion to the title track, with this release showing a producer injecting modernity into classic UK rave sounds.

Continuing an already bustling 2020, that has seen him release on Relief Records and Glasgow Underground, Italian-talent Adapter makes an exciting debut on Hot Creations this November with Skate Dancer. The two-track EP includes a special remix from contemporary house heavyweight, Patrick Topping.

We’re graced with that feel-good eighties touch from the offset, as groovy female vocals shimmer amidst a pumping, 4x4 bassline on Skate Dancer. Sampling Doug Willis’ seminal 2000 track of the same name, the disco-inspired cut strikes the perfect balance between age-old funk rhythm and modern house swing, before Patrick Topping’s remix takes on a darker, techno-leaning tone with hard-hitting kick-hat combos and punchy, no-nonsense percussion.

Naples-based Adapter has experienced a meteoric rise in a career that has spanned multiple years. Releases on some of the genre’s most well-loved labels, including Riva Starr’s Snatch! Records and Green Velvet’s Relief have cemented his status as one of the scene’s true heavy hitters. Label-head of Trick and a mainstay in modern electronic music, Patrick Topping’s accolades speak for themselves. A Mixmag cover star, DJ mag ‘Best of British’ Award Winner as well as three-time DJ Award winner, the well-established Geordie’s latest venture is the label and party series, Trick.
