Hayden James - Something About You (ODESZA Remix)

Straddling her self-propelled one-woman rocket ship from the heart of The Silver Globe, Mancunian/Liverpudlian earthling Jane Weaver keeps a steady foot in both the kosmische synth scape domain as well as the cinematic funk camp to bring you her new cosmic pop single Mission Desire. 

As a standout track from one of the most critically acclaimed albums to bridge 2014/2015 (the self produced and auto-promoted LP The Silver Globe), Jane’s unique blend of European comic book pop conjures images of Gallic sci-fi sets and futurist discotheques epitomised in Mission Desire as a wholly unique slice of growling synth driven melodic silicon pop.

Having garnered widespread critical support, winning Piccadilly Records Album Of The Year award (a sentiment shared by countless discerning record buyers, mixtape DJs, live promoters and radio hosts) unanimous praise for Jane’s long-running dedication as an independent female artist has won her a full calendars worth of gig fixtures, a queue of eager collaborators and a deserved reappraisal of a treasure trove back catalog.

Mission Desire is released as a digital download as well as part of a forthcoming 45rpm split single with Cardiff’s Tender Prey (Cate Le Bon/Sweet Baboo affiliate) who shares release schedules on Jane’s very own femme-pop label Bird Records (in conjunction with Finders Keepers Records). Recorded in Manchester, Mission Desire showcases Jane alone at the front of the mixing desk from an album that includes appearances from Atari music composer Suzanne Ciani, David Homes, Hawkwind and Andy Votel. With a strong comic book aesthetic the track Mission Desire also appears on a trailer for Jane’s favourite 60s French cartoon Marie Mathematique (the baby sister of Barbarella) that combined memories of scopiotone pop video and a dream homage in this unique creative exchange.

A recent addition of ten new bonus tracks to The Silver Globe (special edition) coupled with looming festival dates – connecting Glastonbury, Green Man, Latitude, Festival No 6 (as well as increasing international fixtures) – Jane Weaver’s global mission continues to gather glowing momentum with little sign of deceleration.

Following on from this Spring’s infectious, enslaving ear-worm ‘Don't Take My Soul’ and her plastic pop-funk summer anthem ‘Mission Desire’, self-propelled DIY anti-diva Jane Weaver humbly celebrates the end of the most industrious festival season in her twenty year career leaving audiences happy they ticked that "must-see" box, and euphoric in the rays of her set-list finale, ‘I Need A Connection’.

Originally composed as a bonus track for Jane's unanimously revered self-released The Silver Globe LP, this syncopated synth-triggered slice of cinematic silicone soul has become a stand-out track and live show favourite. Condensing subliminal influences of a filmic Stuart Copeland, Suzanne Ciani, Bowie's B-side of Low, a female Simple Minds cover band and an entire record fair wall of rare Krautrock unknowns into one Arpish, anthemic, unrequited liquid love song.

As Jane's energy reserves blend into this October's month long solo UK tour, ‘I Need A Connection’ is close to becoming the most requested track of her live diary. Performing what is possibly the most recommended independent solo-female release in European record stores this year, and never once failing to justify its praise, Weaver's repeat prescription of pulsating progressive pop and gossamer touch-button folk begs for radio redial and stands as a genuine inspiration to self-help femme pop outfits which deserves a CONNECTION with a wider worldly audience. Balthazar, the five piece fronted by the dual songwriting talents of Maarten Devoldere and Jinte Deprez, follow the release of their debut album in the UK, 'Rats', with a single release and tour dates in May and June. 'Sinking Ship' is taken from 'Rats' an album that Q suggested 'provides melancholy and melody to delight lovers of the dark and intense' in review.

'Sinking Ship' 'shimmers' according to The 405 or is, in the more simple words of IndieLondon, 'fantastic'. With Artrocker suggesting of 'Rats' that 'this beautifully melancholy album from the orchestral indie-rock quintet could easily be their breakthrough', previous London sell outs at The Water Rats and The Lexington alongside support dates in the UK with Local Natives the tour dates represent the next step on a quietly effective story to date.
