When I First Met You (French Full New Edit)

Hoss 'n Lurleen kickin it REEEALLY oldskool, a pre-1965 Motown girl group. I genetically cloned two additional copies of Lurleen, and gave them bouffant hair-do's and sparkling evening gowns. The slogan for Motown was "The Sound of Young America" so we gave the song 21yo lyrics. The singer's dude dumps her, she's torn between, "You #@%$&!!!" and, "We had something special, if you can just give up your young man's roamin ways..." I played live snare drum, the rest of the kit was MIDI, as was piano, harp and chimes. I played acoustic bass guitar, electric guitar, trumpet, trombone, alto & baritone saxes. Hoss' Trivia Question: If anyone can name the real Motown song this was inspired by, you get a cookie. Thanks to KMH Music for use of the bari and snare, and thank YOU for listening!


My Soul's Been Left Behind

Perhaps i have a goofy reputation, granted... On the rare occasion i attempt a serious love song or sad song, i read reviews, "It was hilarious, sounded just like ZAPPA!" For this one i actually tried to sound like him, can't match the compostion or chops, moreso the playfulness and absurdity. How did this come about?  Honest, Lurleen made a simple spaghetti and sauce dinner. And the jokes never stopped. Many songs require standard horn sections of trumpet, sax and trombone, for this one i used my horns that don't get as much of a workout. Reeds were Bb clarinets and alto clarinet, brass was (french)  horn, Eb rear-bell mellophone, and alto horn. I also played bass guitar and electric guitar. Drums, timpani, keyboards, xylophone and vibraphone were MIDI. Thanks for listening!

Folks, Maynard James did a re-mix and edits of this song, and I think it's all the better for it. John Duffin collaborated to it with passion, and Maynard James enhanced it with some great edits and reverb, and Adrien Stein put some finishing touches on the sound quality with an edit that sounds great. Deep and Mighty River

This piece contains some vocal loops that I found at the Looperman website by a contributor named Mhyst. I liked the "oohhs" and "ahhhs" that she created and so I combined them with some sitar, tabla and some other loops that I had also found at Looperman. Then I added some more loops from my Acid Music collection and came up with this. I keep changing it over time but this is its current incarnation. Maybe in another year or two or even a day or two I will change it again.
