- We love Totaka!
- We worked on this remix in between projects for a year.
- When we lived in separate countries, we played Animal Crossing: New Leaf together all the time, and went to K.K. Slider concerts on Saturdays. We requested "K.K. Cruisin'" every time.
- We started this remix in an attempt to answer the question, "Why is K.K. Cruisin' so great?" After listening to it and studying it, we determined that, for us, the heart of the song was its groove. The same five chords repeat throughout the entire song (five extremely creative chords--Mr. Totaka is always a step ahead of us all), and it never changes in rhythm or energy level. We used that concept as the main inspiration for our arrangement, where instead of ramping up the energy for the chorus like we'd normally do, we pulled back and settled into a comfortable groove. Keeping "still" was a big exercise in confidence for both of us.
- We named our remix after the road trips we'd take together down I-5, between San Francisco and LA. Those trips felt like mini-vacations for us (though we still worked on the road and in our hotel room) and making this song has been a mini-vacation for us, too.

Hey everyone, here is an orchestral remix that I created from scratch in Apple Logic Pro X of the well known Able Sisters Theme in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I thought that the theme would sound nice in an orchestral style so I gave it a go, here is how it turned out.

An orchestration of the ending theme from Super Mario World by Koji Kondo. I posted a shorter version of this a while back, but this has the ending now where I tested out Sample Modeling's Horns & Tuba. So much awesome.

This is an orchestral cover of the Select Screen from Zelda A Link to the Past. I'd never paid much attention to the Zelda music until recently. I wish I had gotten into it much earlier as there's so many good pieces of music hidden behind 8bit blips and blops. I have a 'making of' video for this piece of music that's coming as soon as I chop it up!

An orchestration of the Overworld 2 theme from Super Mario Brothers 3. I kept faithful to the original with a few wiggly improvs here and there. It was a practice in a closer, more intimate orchestral setup. I kept a few detunings and weird things here and there to give it a bit less of a Hollywood feel and more like you've gone to see a crazy orchestra playing some Mario - hopefully that comes across.
