Inspired by the first mixing programs on the Dutch radio, Clement Van Dijk started mixing in the early 80’s. Being the music obsessive that he is, it didn’t take him very long to find a local club (Display) to showcase his skills. After doing so for a couple of years the promoters of Arnhems hottest dance club; Luxor, offered him a monthly residency on the Stargate party's. This gave Clay the opportunity to play alongside almost every well-known deejay in Holland, and in countries like, Mexico, Germany, England, Greece and others...

This quietly-spoken DJ from Amsterdam has always understood what made people dance, but never compromised his vision of what good music should be like. By continuously following his favourite waxmasters, like John Digweed, Sasha, Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo, he developed his love for progressive house music. And now as a big fan of producers like, Guy J, Stas drive, Marcelo Vasami, Matias Chilano, Matter, GMJ and many more....

His style reaches from proggy house with some of the most beautiful strings and vocals you are likely to hear unto deep and dark progressive. Clay van Dijk is a progressive DJ/producer who works in collaboration with a wide variety of top producers from all over the world. He combines deep house, progressive and melodic techno into a hypnotic and intense DJ set. His speciality is creating an atmosphere wherein the audience will be taken to a different musical level. He will take you on a rare, extraordinary and psychedelic musical trip in to the deep space of the progressive underground.
The producers he works with, like Luke Santos, George Yammine, CJ Peeton, and Paul Deep & Martin Gardoqui also share their music with other notorious DJ’s like Hernan Cataneo, John Digweed, Guy J and so on.

Leah Marie (Late Night Music) is a DJ/producer from Melbourne Australia currently based in Berlin. Leah first jumped behind the decks in 2019 and has since become a key player in Australia's progressive & melodic house scene. She plays regularly at Melbourne's most iconic venues; festivals/events in Australia, Germany and beyond. Her passions lie with the deeper sides of underground house & techno, which connect with the mind, body and soul.

It is a great honor to have Donny Carr as my guest. His records always touch my soul, so it was time to invite this great producer to Connecting Souls.

Donny Carr is a DJ and producer. He was born in Sacramento, California, but eventually relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah. Today, he is one of SLC’s leading dance music scene performers, and has often had the chance to perform with the best local and international acts.

Donny Carr’s musical journey started out early on. He played the Saxophone for nearly 15 years, but quickly became inspired by the immense creative potential of electronic music production and DJing. When listening to his records and witnessing his live shows, it’s obvious that passion is a key element in Donny’s life. He puts a lot of effort into creating memorable experiences for his audience, whether listening at home or living it up in a venue!

Donny has a unique attitude and a broad creative scope. His genre-defying sound blurs the lines between classic house, tech, deep, prog, and more. It is all about combining great production aesthetics with exciting creative ideas. Donny’s tracks often feature tight grooves, deep bass and lush melodies, setting the bar higher with every release and refusing to get boxed into various categories.

Raphaël de Sauvage more known as Cabaret Nocturne has been penning fusions of ‘80s pop, dark basslines, and unhinged house beats since the mid-noughties - combinations that are by his standards ‘non-formulaic’, getting his Cabaret Nocturne cloak on in 2013.

He's made his way into our playlists, record boxes etc by constantly delivering great tracks for the last 3 years on some of our favorite labels like Beachcoma, My Favorite Robot or the last ep on Roam recordings to name just a few.

In the last few months, I have picked out records that I consider the most important and best from 1990 to 2005. Here and there I had to ask friends if they could provide me with digital recordings from vinyl, because I did not own much of the material myself anymore. After I had everything digitally available, I carefully (re)mastered each track, always staying close to the original, I didn't want destroy that special "feeling" of that time. Not that it's much important to you, probably, but I also pitch-corrected tracks that were slightly "off key", partly because of unstable vinyl recordings or issues with the production itself. Back then not everything was 100%, especially not when producers used analog synths.

After improving the music, I made a DJ mix out of it in my studio. And the result is now available to you, as a lossless FLAC file. You have never heard that music in a better sound quality!

That's why I call this mix series "Past Perfect", because that's what it is for me. Talking about "series"... this is the first installment. I have hundreds of more material from back then, so stay tuned for more.

Here and there I had to ask friends if they could provide me with digital recordings from vinyl, because I did not own much of the material myself anymore. After I had everything digitally available, I carefully (re)mastered each track, always staying close to the original, I didn't want destroy that special "feeling" of that time. Not that it's much important to you, probably, but I also pitch-corrected tracks that were slightly "off key", partly because of unstable vinyl recordings or issues with the production itself. Back then not everything was 100%, especially not when producers used analog synths.

After improving the music, I made a DJ mix out of it in my studio. And the result is now available to you, as a lossless FLAC file. You have never heard that music in a better sound quality!

That's why I call this mix series "Past Perfect", because that's what it is for me. Talking about "series"... this is the second and final installment.

Connecting Souls 049 on Proton Radio

Inspired by the first mixing programs on the Dutch radio, Clement van Dijk started mixing in the early 80’s. Being the music obsessive that he is, it didn’t take him very long to find a local club (Display) to showcase his skills. After doing so for a couple of years the promoters of Arnhems hottest dance club; Luxor, offered him a monthly residency on the Stargate party's. This gave Clay the opportunity to play alongside almost every well-known deejay in Holland, and in countries like, Hungary, Mexico, Germany, England, Greece and others... 

This quietly-spoken DJ from Amsterdam has always understood what made people dance, but never compromised his vision of what good music should be like. By continuously following his favorite waxmasters, like John Digweed, Sasha, Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo, he developed his love for progressive house music. And now as a big fan of producers like, Guy J, Alex O'Rion, Marcelo Vasami, Matias Chilano, Matter, GMJ and many more....

His style reaches from proggy house with some of the most beautiful strings and vocals you are likely to hear unto deep and dark progressive. He combines deep house, progressive and melodic techno into a hypnotic and intense DJ set. His specialty is creating an atmosphere wherein the audience will be taken to a different musical level. He will take you on a rare, extraordinary and psychedelic musical trip in to the deep space of the progressive underground.

Every first Friday of the month Clay has his radio show Connecting Souls on Proton Radio. Let this joyful Deejay connect your souls on the dance floor with his magical mix of progressive house, deep house and melodic techno music. Now in these days you can find him as a resident in the best underground club in Amsterdam, The Recycle Lounge Gallery Club, and in the famous hotspot Club NL.
