We welcome Jack Powell a.k.a Mazayr for the eighty-fourth edition of the 'Deep In Mix' series.

Based in Manchester, UK, Mazayr's productions craft a delicate balance of uplifting euphoria and melancholic introspection, anchored by grooves that hit with precision and depth. Influenced heavily by the trance classics that dominated his early DJ sets, Mazayr’s distinctive style soon found its place on prestigious labels such as The Purr, Flug Lab, Canopy Sounds, Musique De Lune, Nordic Voyage, Suprematic, Stellar Fountain, and One Of A Kind.

Mazayr’s career milestones reflect his persistent dedication and extraordinary talent. Finishing 2022 with the #1 Organic House release on Beatport for his 'Hypnose De La Lune' EP was just the beginning. His debut album, 'My Canopy', soared to #2, setting the tone for a triumphant 2023 filled with top 10 releases across Organic and Progressive House. As a DJ, Mazayr has graced iconic stages, from the legendary Sankeys in Manchester to global hotspots like Destino Pacha and the Pangaea Festival. "Playing at Sankeys was a dream come true. I saw most of the artists that influenced me early on here, so I'm glad I got a chance to play!" he recalls. Mazayr’s influences are as diverse as his music, drawing inspiration from industry giants like Michael Mayer, Sven Vath, Hoj, Hicky & Kalo, Guy J, and Atish. These influences are evident in his nuanced productions and dynamic sets, which craft a sound that is both introspective and exhilarating.

“I have a remix coming out on Stellar Fountain I’m looking forward to. And a track on Gorkiz’s Transensations later in the year that I can’t wait to share!” he reveals with palpable excitement. Inspired by the first mixing programs on the Dutch radio, Clement van Dijk started mixing in the early 80’s. Being the music obsessive that he is, it didn’t take him very long to find a local club (Display) to showcase his skills. After doing so for a couple of years the promoters of Arnhems hottest dance club; Luxor, offered him a monthly residency on the Stargate party's. This gave Clay the opportunity to play alongside almost every well-known deejay in Holland, and in countries like, Hungary, Mexico, Germany, England, Greece and others... 

This quietly-spoken DJ from Amsterdam has always understood what made people dance, but never compromised his vision of what good music should be like. By continuously following his favorite waxmasters, like John Digweed, Sasha, Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo, he developed his love for progressive house music. And now as a big fan of producers like, Guy J, Alex O'Rion, Marcelo Vasami, Matias Chilano, Matter, GMJ and many more....

His style reaches from proggy house with some of the most beautiful strings and vocals you are likely to hear unto deep and dark progressive. He combines deep house, progressive and melodic techno into a hypnotic and intense DJ set. His specialty is creating an atmosphere wherein the audience will be taken to a different musical level. He will take you on a rare, extraordinary and psychedelic musical trip in to the deep space of the progressive underground.

Every first Friday of the month Clay has his radio show Connecting Souls on Proton Radio.
