This is truly the most wonderful time of the year - purely magical. And I think it ought to be accompanied by music which beckons nostalgic warmth. This version of Dwell was born of late nights at a piano...always wondering if the melodies of the original could be rewritten in a rather free and spontaneous fashion. This is what emerged. It is best enjoyed under a star-lit sky as the snow falls  - of course with several angels & baby deer in your midst as you sip hot drinking chocolate. It is, once again, the most wonderful time of the year. For all of us struggling to feel like it's Christmas, let me whisk you away to a magical land for just a few moments with "Immanuel."

I chose to blend my favorite melodies from two songs: Carol of the Bells and Veni, Veni, Emmanuel (O Come O Come Emmanuel) into a seamless piece of music. Because of the complex nature of these songs, I decided not to include lyrics - rather to accentuate my favorite pieces of each song with cello, fiddle and mythical vocals. Enjoy - I've made downloading free as a celebration of everything good, wintry, Christmas and magical...

Ed Carlsen is an Italian-born composer/producer based in Copenhagen. He has been making music for 20+ years, first through classical piano lessons in his early childhood and subsequently as a guitarist interested 
in rock, reggae, prog and classical. He studied the guitar at CPM Milano. Seeking to marry his musical knowledge with production techniques, Carlsen pursued studies in Music Technology at the London College of Music. There he gained an interest in sound design and making music for film and visual media. After a long break from playing, in 2015 he once again took up the piano, but with a different approach: rather than learning through the study of other artists, he set to further his development through writing his own songs. This, combined with his newfound interests in sound design, led to his vision for The Journey Tapes.

Celebrating Record Store Day and given the occasion of Sólfar EP’s 1st anniversary, Manos Milonakis invites friends, composers and producers to rethink-reimagine its’ 5 tracks. Sólfar EP was Manos’s second solo release, after Your Hand in Mine, which he recorded in Iceland with contribution of local musicians.

The 5 pieces of Sólfar EP have been reworked by:
Steve Gibbs, Fragile Balloon, Luke Howard, Hior Chronik, Ed Carlsen.
