Born in South Africa and raised in Los Angeles, Refilwe “Refi Sings"
Morake is a Vocalist, Songwriter and Vocal Producer. She has been a recording artist since the age of 14. At its core the essence of her music stems from reggae, however, overall her sound is a dynamic fusion of the intensity of raw South African vocals, a provocative, sassy tone, and a refreshingly thought provoking and 90s-like approach to a melody. Having been exposed to the entertainment industry from a young age she has worked with various local and international artists such as Hans Zimmer, Focus, Anderson Paak, Hugh Masekela, Inglewood Sir, Andra Day, and many more. In 2009 she made her debut performing at the closing ceremony of the FIFA Confederations Cup '09 performing along side many South African musical legends. In 2013 Refi performed alongside Hugh Masekela at the 55th Grammy Awards where they were received with dancing, joy, and an incredible standing ovation. In 2017 Refi was selected as a lead vocalist for The HANS ZIMMER LIVE tour, one of their many international destinations being Coachella ’17. She has made history as the youngest South African to ever perform at Coachella, and she aspires to continue to push boundaries and leave her musical mark. Basically, she's lit.
