Olivier Weiter - March of the Violin

HARDER... DARKER... STRONGER... was the tag-line and “Disconnect/Reconnect”, the third studio album from The Japanese Popstars, garnered plenty of critical praise and won the hearts and minds of many forward-thinking music fans throughout 2013, proving to be a big success for John Digweed’s Bedrock label. So fittingly, it falls to Gary Curran and Gareth Donoghue to kick-off the 2014 release schedule with a timely revisit to three of the album’s boldest tracks, with superb heavy-duty remixes from London based Sharooz and Barcelona’s Coyu.

The mighty and melodic “Vision” and insanely noisy “Heavy Hitter” battle it out to see who can become Techno champion of the world, a duel that can only result in them both sharing the podium, being so distinctly different in attitude and being unforgettably memorable. It was the original version of “Matter Of Time” (featuring Green Velvet on vocals) that took the 2012 IMS by storm, catching the ears of Laurent Garnier, Francois K, Carl Cox and John Digweed, who promptly signed TJP to Bedrock. Now, for 2014, it reappears with a suitably massive Coyu Remix. With his Suara label currently one of the most prominent imprints in the world of Techno, Coyu’s pedigree is of the highest order and he stands as one of the most charted artists in Resident Advisor's history. Sharooz (owner of La Bombe), whose recent tracks on GND Records have been flying high, is no slouch either! His decidedly twisted remix of “Heavy Hitter” is impressive in the extreme and will no doubt be causing chaos everywhere it lands.

There can be no doubt, that this next salvo from The Japanese Popstars is destined to be heard in the dirtiest of dark rooms and at the biggest nocturnal festival shows worldwide, throughout 2014 and beyond. These boys are on fire and have their gaze fixed firmly on the future.

Is the Hyenah from Joburg or from Berlin? It could be both, or maybe
neither. We don’t know. And we don’t really care because the music has hit
us in a huge way and we’re just happy to be bringing you this serious club
pressure with the debut Hyenah release here on Freerange. On lead track
The Wish (Dub) we’re treated to a percussion fueled, bass-heavy monster of
a track which balances the dextrous, fluid grooves of the Motherland with
immaculate teutonic sonics just perfectly. Slowly moving strings create a
wonderful tension as the rhythm builds in intensity with rattling drums
taking centre stage and jumping out of the mix like firecrackers.

Next up we have King Kobra which goes straight for the jugular with a
stripped-back, bare-bones groove, a beautifully simple percussion rhythm
becoming all you need for the main hook. Dubbed out deep house minimalism
is the name of the game here, with the hypnotic beats drawing you in and
the fat Hyenah production engulfing you like a sandstorm.

Flip over for a brilliant remix from our favorite French DJ and producer
Manoo.  This man has been responsible for some of the finest soul-tinged
and afro-infused house music over the last 10 years with releases on
Deeply Rooted House, Buzzin’ Fly and Real Tone.  His remixes for everyone
from Maya Jane Coles and Louis Vega to Osunlade and Terrence Parker are
testament to the skills possessed.  Once again Manoo delivers in spades
with this remix of The Wish, keeping the overall vibe intact but adding a
rolling bassline, extra vocal hits and extending the arrangement into a
most glorious ten minute workout.

The latest addition to the Anjunadeep ranks are up and coming UK house act Journeyman, who join the Lane 8, Dusky and Lancelot in the ever expanding label family. 

Having first caught the A&R attention at AnjunaHQ with their remix of Brookes Brothers last summer, Journeyman then truly marked their arrival on the scene with "Get Closer" / "Sideways" on New State Music.

The "Spend It All EP" further develops and showcases Journeyman's exciting approach to melodic club music. Already supported by the likes of The Magician, Jody Wisternoff and Shir Khan, lead track "Spend It All" is a rolling weapon, fuelled by surging low-end, infectious vocal and rattling percussion.

The atmospheric "Constellation" ventures into spacier territory, blending harmonically chopped and distorted vocals with another deep, driving bassline keeping this one firmly rooted to the dance floor. 

Featuring the soulful vocals of Vikter Duplaix, "In The Dark" is a low-slung jam, built around a throbbing bassline and bouncy percussion, which rounds off Journeyman's debut Anjunadeep EP in fine style.

Click is one of Amsterdam's finest party organizations. With organizing party's in Holland and around Europe for over 7 years now, starting an own label named Click Records was the next logical step for us. With the label we intent to bring the best House & Techno has to offer. With already singed multiple major artists to our label from different genres we will try to make impact from the very first beginning.

We are proud to present you our third release. This release is a special one as we got a duo release. Gabriel Ananda & Olivier Weiter delivering both one single track on this "Two Guys One Click" EP. Gabriel Ananda had the honor to deliver our very first EP. And it did great in the charts. This time he delivers a warm,  deep, melodic track. We expect a lot from this tune. Olivier Weiter is new on our label. But for those who know whats happening in the dutch dance scene, this man needs no introduction. We are very proud to have this rising artists onboard. With releases on labels like, Armada, Parquet and Sudbeat he already build a solid profile. Deep, driving, warm and emotional describes his track the best. With an intense love of music from an early age, she has been rocking clubs in her home country since she was 15 years old, and it shows! ANNA's presence and ability behind the decks is simply stunning, igniting the dance floor and creating pure energy that captivates everywhere she plays. After temporarily moving to Europe in 2008 to start pursuing an international career, things started to progress quickly, taking in tours across Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Czech Republic and more. Having always been interested in music production, it was at this time that Anna got a taste for the studio and developed her unique sound of deep, yet energetic Tech-House & Techno. Since then she has been releasing her music on some of the scene's finest labels, including Christian Smith's Tronic, Kraftek, Witty Tunes, Bla Bla and Toolroom Records. Winter is approaching and here at Nang towers, nights are cold and it’s time to warm up proceedings. The heat is served in the guise of Proper Heat’s latest temperate single with a flaming Ilya Santana’s remix.

On 3rd of November we will drop the new EP from one of our favourite bands, Vilnius’ Proper Heat. The trio has previously released 4 singles on the label, mixing lead singer Karolis Ramoška’s incredible voice with Saxtone and Martin Vigin’s producing skills, creating their unique style which goes from Italo to Cosmic Disco, from 80’s Synth Pop to modern Deep House. On the 3rd of November they return with the double single ‘Believe/On & On’ backed up with remix from Ilya Santana, someone who has released on the likes of Permanent Vacation and Eskimo Recordings and remixed people like Human League, Dolly Parton, Lindstrom & the Phenomenal Handclap Band.

The EP opens with Proper Heat’s ‘Believe’: a cavernous chord's melody introduces the track’s dancefloor–oriented House groove before Karolis’s lyrics kick in, merged with a deep rhythmical bass-line and smooth ethereal synth-lines. Ilya Santana’s version of the original track is a proper Cosmico Disco cut. The producer takes the original chord melody and re-elaborates it, fusing it with spacey uplifting synths and and a jumpy arp/bass-line, dropping towards the tracks length the sampled and delayed vocals.

The second half of the single is composed by Proper Heat’s 2 different versions of ‘On & On’. The first version is a Pop light-headed track, carried by Ramoška’s unique voice, while the second is a down-tempo re-interpretation of the original, in which a funky bass-line and groove are mixed with bossanova percussions and sexy soulful key-melodies.

Driving, big basses, deep vibes and great drums are the key words for this EP. With getting our attention through great releases on Sasha's label Last Night On Earth we knew we had to get this amazing producer releasing on our label. Zoot Woman's floating, electro-pop number "Coming Up For Air," has been given an effective touch by Keinemusik's Adam Port, a German artist known for his eclectic brand of techno. For this remix, one Port described as "a dream come true," the artist sheds the metallic vibes found in much of his prior work for a warm, stripped down rework lead mainly by a weighted bassline.
