Steyoyoke welcomes newcomer Simon Sizer to the family with 'The Ages Of Man' EP. An ode to the greatness and grossness of humanity, Simon Sizer greets us with three original compositions consisting of 'Aethra', 'Ares', and 'Seven Against Thebes'. 

'Aethra' sets the tone for the EP with a modern, unique approach to track arrangement. A rollercoaster of unexpected turns, Simon Sizer takes the listener down new, unexplored terrain in the prologue to an epic trilogy. 

'Ares' collects and redistributes all preconceived notions of melody and rhythm, taking on a new form with dangerously tantilizing synthetic sounds which tickle and taste the aural pleasures deep within us all.

'Seven Against Thebes', a perfectly poignant piece which captures the ethereal glory of gloom and techno in a single track. A fury within, the 'Seven Against Thebes' stand strong in this ode to the final trilogy of Aeschylus's legendary literature.

Simon Sizer surrounds his sound with historic, deeply moving themes, truly encapsulating 'The Ages Of Man' in music.

Simon Sizer - Aethra (Original Mix) | Steyoyoke

Born in Morocco, Simon set his sights on music at an early age, after drawing inspiration from his father. Initially classically trained, pianist Simon taught himself to love jazz, rock, and electronic dance music. Simon composed his first piece at the age of 16.

In 2011, Simon moved to Montreal, choosing the city for its sound design and affinity for all things art. It was in the cold corner of Canada that Simon was exposed to new sounds, softwares, and synthesizers. For several years Simon worked tirelessly on imprinting a sound that defined his soul, spending hours perfecting his musical and technical skills. Being blessed with an appreciation for all genres, he was lucky enough to travel through different styles; finally finding his voice in the sound waves.

In 2016, his first EP "The Ages Of Man" was released on Berlin-based label, Steyoyoke. With a mind overflowing with new concepts, Simon Sizer has more of his heart to share with the world.

Steyoyoke and Steyoyoke Black habitué Arude is in for a couple of reconstructions. In this brand new edition of Steyoyoke Black Reconstructed EP series, the Ukrainian producer takes charge of duties, delivering two exquisite reworks of pieces from the imprint’s back catalogue, proving to be more than capable of fulfilling the challenge.

First reinterpretation goes to the already obscure track ‘Thousand Words’ from Altego. He enhances its murkiness by crafting some hypnotic sinister loops as well as increasing its dance floor potential by making its groove more well-defined. Tension is evident all over its structure and it’s taken to extreme during a scenic breakdown. Creepiness abundance.

Second rework is dedicated to ‘Minor’ by Never Lost. Arude here thickens the punch and introduces a deeper bass-line as he strives to orchestrate graceful melodic evolution until the acid sonorities, present from first minutes on, reassume protagonism in a power drop.

Arude prodigiously assembles every element you’d expect from a proper Steyoyoke Black release, making his dynamic intervention on this two, on-point techno cuts that apparently were designed among the shadows.
