Exclusive Lorenz Rhode 'Back (Gerd Janson Remix)'

One of electronic music's most renowned labels and probably the reason for many, artists and listeners, to get involved with the music, Compost, is turning 25. Therefore the Munich based label will release a box set which contains more than 30 remixes of Compost classics, and there are many. While the first 'Overture' with selected remix works from Roman Flügel, Ripperton, and I:Cube was released in December 2018, the time has come to release a second wave of remixes from House music legends like Ewan Pearson, Phil Milson and Gerd Janson. The latter takes on remix duties for Lorenz Rhode's track 'Back', which was first released on Compost back in 2006. With it's disco-ish vibe and the embedded vocoder-vocals, which was a style-defining element for artists such as Kraftwerk and their music, 'Back' was already a favorite back then. Now Running Back-label head Gerd Janson works his magic on the track, reduces the use of vocals  and also its volume, adds a more pulsating bass line and simply yet skillfully turns the original in a more club-oriented track in a way only Gerd Janson can: simple, effective, disco-ish and as confidently stylish as the original just with Gerd's trademark sound arrangement. 

'Overture 2' will be released on January 18th, 2019 on Compost.

EXCLUSIVE: Lorenz Rhode - Back (Gerd Janson Remix) [Compost]

@TheusMago is back with more club heat on his own co-run @Durolabel , this time in collaboration with the @LocalSuicide duo.

Theus Mago is the alter-ego of established Mexican producer Mateo González. Responsible for projects such as Bufi (Kitsuné/Discotexas) and Sonido Fantasma (Turbo Recordings) he has a deeply expressive, freeform sound that mixes darker moods with beautiful synths. After releasing a series of EPs inspired by Philip K. Dick’s Ubik, he now works with Berlin-based DJs and real-life couple Brax Moody (Munich) and Vamparela (Thessaloniki) who have been collaborating and making waves together since 2007. The pair has found success releasing on Canada’s My Favorite Robot Records and Multi Culti, and San Francisco's Roam.

The excellent lead single has lyrics translated from German to English as ‘Come Into The Hole’. This double entendre can be taken as the never-ending vortex of deep space, as well as the dark recesses of underground clubs, which is where the track will resonate. It has sparkling keys and droning synths laid over big rubbery kicks. Post- punk vocals bring a dark energy and slight EBM feel as the jacking percussion drives it along and gets the floor in a sweat.

Remixes come from Aera, who has recently released his own album ‘The Sound Path’ on Permanent Vacation and on the flip side @ColossioMx. The Mexican artist who recently made a debut splash with his four track EP ‘Moto’ on Calypso Records. Here he enlivens and accentuates the vocals, making for something fresh and arresting.

'Serbian producer and our good friend Space Motion is returning to us with another classy 'Brain Ride' release. Last year was fruitful for Space Motion with a dense touring worldwide and the supports of the world's best House & Techno tastemakers like Solomun and Black Coffee, and this three tracker has all it needs. The moody melodic formation of the main 'Brain Ride' track' slowly gets us to, from the first listen, allegedly dark and boosting 'Steps', but later, after uncurling into the middle of the release story the invisible thread of EP style is clearly becoming to be seen. The closing 'Ultra Sequencer' track produced together with Siguiente Tecnologia worth another mention: the minimalistic, bright and extra-enswathing tune which perfectly shapes up this very special EP. Welcoming Jozef K to the label once more to drop his biggest release yet. A solid four tracker including a remix from Mathias Schober.

The first track of the EP 'By Love, They Will Quench The Fire Of Hate', takes no prisoners, the slow build to the drop keeps you captivated throughout the entire track. Following up is the fast rolling drums and the infectious tribal undertones of 'Con Mala Mar'.

The last of the originals is the hypnotic 'Forgotten Angel' with an intriguing melody that comes and goes throughout the track all building to a momentous drop.

Finally, Mathias Schober closes out the EP with his Bass Tool Remix of the final track.

The release takes you on a journey of sound exploration and starts off our 2019 perfectly.
