"Runs so deep it puts your butt to sleep", to paraphrase actor/musician Ice Cube in his seminal hit It Was a Good Day. And it is a good day for lovers of high-grade house music.

Szikra is Kornél Kovács at his most wistfully nostalgic. Ultra-smooth keys offset by noisy lo-fi breakbeats and vocals urging you to git fucked up, like Metro Area caught up... in smoke!

All the trademark sounds of the Barnhus massive are present - off-kilter playfulness paired with the cocky swagger of a south Stockholm roughneck and an infectious pop sensibility that lingers in your head long after the needle hits the inner groove.

The so-called Bónusz Beat is actually a track in its own right, sacrificing most of the hook and the vocals for a dubby smackdown ripe for adventurous dancefloors.

Young Stockholm producer Abdulla Rashim closes out the set with a perfectly horizontal techno groove, using only elements from the original production.

Barcelona native Alex Lario arrives on New Violence Records with a summer drenched EP sure to find it's way into plenty of hard drives over the coming months. With previous releases gracing the likes of Suruba & Sincopat, the Spaniard is making serious strides in the underground scene.

We kick off with Time Against a deep melodic techy number with light summer overtones. Delicate stabs and building bass propel this track forward. Cool and sophisticated, it's got IBIZA stamped large across it.

Get Physical man Andrea Ljekaj takes on remix duties for Time Against and immediately brings a darker atmospheric sound to the track. Beefing up the stabs and adding a melancholy flavour as well as some woody perc. A subtle extra synth line brings another dimension to a gorgeous breakdown. Not to be missed.

For Blitz Alex is joined by fellow Barcelona resident, Rankun. This track is a much more head down affair, with driving bass, trippy vocals and building synth crescendos. One for later in the night.

Hotly tipped man of the moment Caleb Calloway takes on the remix controls for Blitz and immediately heads off in a deep and underground direction. Setting the tone with insistent percussion and tripping the vocals out this is definitely a flavour of his residency at Hyte.
