Hugo Mari, formerly known as Books, makes his debut on Detroit Swindle's Heist Recordings by delivering a collection of soulful, jazzy, deep and energetic cuts via his 'Change Ur Ways' EP, including the funk-infused house ballad 'Get Loose' ft. Zodiac. 

With releases on Omena and XVI under his alias Books, Hugo Mari has steadily built a reputation for his soulful approach to dance music. He has a knack for fusing organic elements with driving rhythms and emotive melodies, crafting versatile material that works beautifully at home or on the dancefloor. Now with his latest offering on Heist he further showcases his range as as producer that sets the stage for a bright future. 

The 'Change Ur Ways' EP is set for release December 3.

And rounding out the A-side is “An Evening With Soplica,” a dreamy soundscape anchored by deep synth hooks and buoyed by soft hi-hats and rhythmic cowbell hits - percussive bliss. Soul Wun takes things over on the flip with the dusty lounge house tune “Naima Blue,” metered perfectly by reverberating sax hits and delicate piano chords. And “For George” brings the EP home: y’all know how we like a B2 that pulls at those sunrise warrior heartstrings, and this jazzy masterpiece is no exception.
