As we get ready for a busy summer, of spreading the sound of tomorrow across the globe, we can't help but take a step back and bring you all the feel good, forward thinking music you know and love from Soulection. This installment of our White Label series comes from 18 year old London composer, songwriter, guitarist, singer & violinist, Tom Misch. We felt the need to list all of this in the description, because each track is such an audio masterpiece. This one is for everyone, but true fans of Dilla, and smooth, mellow, R&B inspired hip-hop beats, will definitely enjoy this release.

"Basically this EP is me attempting to make instrumentals that will effect people moods in a positive way but also make people think, all produced and recorded by myself in my bedroom. I've used a combination of obscure jazz samples but mostly live instrumentation that I've recorded, so I recored guitar, violin, bit of vocals and sound effects etc." -Tom Misch

It's hard to pinpoint Parisian producer, Twenty9's sound, but the amalgamation of all his influences definitely amounts to something extremely nostalgic. The feeling is undeniable thanks to breezy rhodes and warm 80s analogue sounds and there's also no doubt that his work would slot right into the catalogue of artists pioneering that unmistakeable 'Toronto' sound. 

'So Far Ahead' is the first single off TapeTrack Vol. 3, which we see as a dedication to modern R&B. It's a reminder to where the R&B scene is moving thanks to modern classics like Frank's "Channel Orange" and Drake's last record. Coupled with sub knocking bass, Twenty9's given us something distinctly him with this release.

Twenty9 - So Far Ahead [Side A]

Bryan Ferry’s most recent musical odyssey came in the form of 2014’s critically acclaimed
Avonmore album, now the LP gets some very special remix treatment by a connoisseur selection
of disco artists from around the globe. The celebrated and taste-making likes of Leo Zero, Ray Mang, Prins
Thomas, Justin Robertson, Leftside Wobble, Idjut Boys, Man Power and many more all lend their
well trained ears and serve up some sizzling new versions of the superb originals.

Bryan Ferry is one of the UK’s foremost singer songwriters, a pop artist and musician whose
appeal has spanned five decades. With his elegant virtuoso performances as the
front man Roxy Music, and his subsequent illustrious solo career Ferry has achieved numerous
accolades and has been a great source of influence and inspiration for
ensuing generations of musicians. As such, a project like this allows some of these established and rising talents the
unique opportunity to add their own spin to Ferry’s singular style.

A broad palette of sounds, scenes and genres are traversed along the course of this absorbing
collection. It kicks off in style with two different versions of ‘Loop Di Li’. Leo Zero’s take is sun-kissed and breezy, 
with trilling riffs and sweeping synths. UK disco don Ray Mang then offers a
more pumping, groove driven effort that wraps Ferry’s unique vocals up in neo-Balearic cool.
Next up, the marvellous ‘Midnight Train’ is offered as a late night and romantic affair by Johnson
Somerset, a cosmic chugger by Man Power and a characteristically left of centre house version
by the inimitable Idjut Boys, famed for being remix kings.

Fans of dubbed out and slo-motion disco will love the brilliant Beard of Concern mix of ‘Soldier of
Fortune,’ before five fascinating versions of ‘Driving Me Wild’ take in lush 80s nostalgia,
swaggering dub, mechanical psychedelic disco, horizontal grooves and elastic kosmiche from
Johnson Somerset, Leftside Wobble, Justin Roberton’s Deadstock 33s, Leo Zero and Ray Mang
respectively.

The latter half of the album finds nu-disco pioneer Prins Thomas masterfully flip the title track into
a broody affair with corrugated bass and tense, scintillating synth lines, whilst PBR Streetgang
work ‘One Night Stand’ into a deep and synthetic disco bomb that will have dance-floors in
raptures. Elsewhere, Idjut Boys, Ray Mang, Leo Zero, Johnson Somerset offer more expert reworks.
Ambient Pioneer Ulrich Schnauss has the coveted task of adapting ‘Johnny & Mary’, Ferry’s timeless collaboration with Norwegian man of the moment Todd Terje.
Hidden Orchestra layer grand instrumentals and sweeping strings into a dramatic and theatrical
remix of ‘Send in the Clowns.’ Leftside Wobble is then left to bring us back down to earth with an
intoxicating brew of molten synths, woozy chords and smeared pads that sooth mind, body and
soul.

The rich source material here, along with the wealth of stars chosen to remix it, all make for
another fascinating chapter in the life of one of the UK’s most cherished artists.

Lost (Johnson Somerset Remix)

Luke Vibert 's new album under his increasingly-less-rare Kerrier District moniker is, quite simply, a corker – and we're delighted to offer up the first taster. 4  is everything we've come to expect from the Cornwall hero's forays into wonky boogie, a deliriously fun detour through the kind of elastic funk he pulls off with panache. It's no accident that a half-dozen tracks have 'disco' or some variation thereof in the title (we see you, "Discuntek").
It feels as if you could splatter them all together into a deliriously skippy mush; not to say that they're interchangeable, mind. The closing "Come On Kerrier" provides one last burst of energy, a pitched-up combination of 'Kerrier' and Vibert proper, gaudy and giddy and glorious. April 6th is when 4 drops via Hypercolour – dig out your 70s calendars and start marking the days.

We're very happy and proud to welcome our favorite German duo on board of Manual Music! Boss Axis have recently made their debut on the label doing a remix for Might at Night, but now they are back to present you their 'Third Lake EP', featuring two new tracks + a stellar line-up of remixes.

Melodic and groovy - that’s the sound of Marcel and Thomas from Germany, who in 2008 decided to find their place together in the electronic music scene. Their sound is characterized by warmth, pressure and especially their emphasis on harmonies. Their attention to detail is obvious. Both the title track 'Third Lake' and the b-side 'Boship' suit the aformentioned description perfectly. Two new tracks by the 'ministers of melody' that will for sure rock many crowds!

On remix duties we welcome back on board our good friend Teho (Herzblut / Parquet), but we also welcome two new faces on board the Manual family; Formel (Einmusika) and Marten Sundberg (Kompakt / Moosseekkaa). A little something for everyone here. What's your favorite?

We kick off 2016 with an exciting project for Cinematique. A few years in the making but finally it will see the light of day. It's our honor to present Ben Stecker ft. Motsfeld.

It's been a few years ago since we've heard this track for the first time. We fell in love instantly but somehow the track needed to travel before it came back home again here at Cinematique. And now it's finally available for everyone. A beautiful vocal track produced by the young man Ben Stecker (who released a track before on Midnight Beats 2 under his Stan B moniker), with the voice of Motsfeld. A stripped down, emotional piece of electronic music which will let you float away.

To complete this EP we've asked three different remixers to make their own interpretation of 'You are never here'. Manual Music boss Paul Hazendonk delivers a proggy dub version of the track while our French friend Teho stays more close to the original with adding some typical elements in his own trademark style. Finally, the furry Qbical returns to Cinematique again with a wicked remix giving the track a funky twist.

We warmly welcome back Kettel who makes his return to Clone/DUB records since his debut Cenny Crush 15 years ago (which was followed by the brilliant Whisper Me Wishes in 2007). After a hiatus of 3 years since his last release Kettel is releasing his new album on Clone Records. The talented musician has been busy with producing music for computer games and commercials, but is now offering a fine selection of pieces he has made in the last couple years with this full length in mind. The result is a playful, inspiring, eclectic, delicate, melodic, well-balanced and brilliantly produced album fuzzing elements of electronica, classical music, jazz and techno stirred into flawless, memorable compositions. As a 90's kid Kettel has always been inspired by the early electronica pioneers (whose names don't even need to be mentioned... everyone knows who we're talking about right?), and on this album too you can hear some of the aesthetics of those late 90's productions, but adopted into Kettel's unique world of confident rhythms and melodies filled with expression. The music on this record has a lyrical quality to it and is so expertly written that it does not strictly depend on it's electronical environment: these compositions would still stand firm performed on whatever combination of instruments. Another lovely and magical release by Kettel thats spreading good vibes from the first to the last second!
